It's quite expensive, but damn it can do a lot. I might look into this actually.In my experience if you don't mind spending a little money you can't beat UltraEdit. I use it extensively at work. Notepad++ is a solid alternative and it's free but I think it's lacking in how it handles column mode and sorting. Ultraedit is like a Ginzu knife.

Haha, yea Emacs is pretty good. A friend at uni said it was mandatory when i was running Debian. Although i must admit i never really got around to using it.
