I've been having a problem with my Gateway notebook and accessing my home WiFi network.
I'm fairly certain that there is nothing wrong with my router. I have several other wireless devices (X360, PS3) that work fine right now and my previous notebook worked without issue.
The problem is that the notebook will not always recognize that there is a wireless network available and connect to it. Sometimes it will work fine, and when it does, it works for as long as the computer is on. Sometimes it will not work though, and then I have to keep shutting it off and turning it back on until it will work. It seems to be completely dependant on turning the laptop on/off; when the laptop is turned on and it works, it never stops working until it is shut off. When the laptop is turned on and it doesn't work, it never starts working. When it doesn't work, searching for a wireless network produces nothing.
I did try calling up Gateway support and ended up sending it back to them. But all they did (from what I can see of course) is reinstall Vista as it was when I purchased the notebook (I had reinstalled a clean version using the vista disk to eliminate all the crap on the system). This did nothing to solve the problem.
I'm wondering if anyone on here has an idea what the problem is. Gateway wants to blame it on the router of course, but I am pretty sure that it cannot be it considering it seems dependant on starting/restarting the notebook. Thanks for any help.
