I currently have a Sony VAIO PCGZ505JE notebook.....
Has 500 MHz CPU...but and has 192MB of RAM...64MB onboard + 128 MB 144pin SO-DIMM....and a 9GB HDD..
I would like to ask...is it possible to increase the ram to beyond that....
192 isn't quite nuff theses days..?
On the sticker, it says it is expandable to 192MB MAX....
so I would like to ask what is limiting the notebooks expansion beyond 192MB....?...is it It can't take more than 128MB SO-DIMMs?..I am sure 256MB SO-DIMMS are around.......

try www.crucial.com memory selector to see if they offer a 256 MB

if not, try google and groups.google with your model number and "256" to see if anyone is talking about using a 256 MB successfully.

even if neither says so you can still try a 256 MB dimm, it just might not work and you'll have to pay the 15-25% restocking fee plus return shipping.

Nope...it Supports 2 256MB max..I am pretty sure........the BX/MX series of boards support 128MB SO -DIMM Max....found the second slot on the reverse side with a 64MB DIMM in it...
The i440BX and its mobile varient. (is it i440MX) however only support 128MB SO-Dimm per module MAX.....Could some one check on that?...
Well...taken that VAIO apart and found the second SO-DIMM on the other side of the MOBO populated with a 64MB SO DIMM.....going to get another 128MB SO DIMM today...thx anyways..

the z505 used some sort of wierd micro dimmi think, they make sodimms that are stacked chips now that should have 256mb on them, i've seen them on ebay.
