Notebook Upgrade-ability(*sp)

As far as notebooks go, what parts are even upgradeable and are all notebooks basically the same in this regard?

Most laptops do allow you to upgrade RAM and HD at the very least. There are also laptops that lets you swap a drive for an extra battery. Some lets you upgrade the CPU, and some even lets you upgrade the vid card, though these would be niche products.

Some laptops with built in wifi can be upgraded to 802.11A/G from only B . Bluetooth can be added in a few models, but that about covers your upgrade options.
 
There are others that have a socketed CPU that's upgradable. Also, my Inspiron 8600 has an upgradable graphics module. Others do as well.

I have a friend to upgraded his display on a Thinkpad.
