Notebook Screen UPGRADING?

A while ago I purchased some IBM Thinkpads on ebay (which I eventually returned) and while I had them, I attempted to switch the screens on the laptops but each and every laptop I opened, it had a different connection to the motherboard, therefore upgrading it not possible. One reason I can see this happening is because some monitors only were 256 color and some were activematrix or passivematrix.

Now, come to today, I've got a Celeron 600MHZ Dell Inspiron 3800, it's got a really small 800X600 screen, large bezel and I was hoping to upgrade it. The system runs smoothly but it's this damned screen that ticks me off. So I look on ebay to see if I can sell this laptop and I find the same model with a much larger screen, and so I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade it or not.

Has anyone done this before to their laptop? I know inspiron 3800s can vary between them all (The PIII models have a trackpoint as well as touch pad) so I was wondering if this would still be possible, one worry I have is that either the video connectors won't fit or the screen will be physically too large..

Anyhelp?

I've swapped some Twinhead laptop screens, as their entire line of P88, P88T, P88TE computers all used the same inside connectors, and were an identical footprint, just the latter had 14.1" screen rather than 12" screens.

It is possible, but it'll take time to find one or two... I'd call someone at tech support at Dell, or dig on their website for info. Good luck 🙂
