ok, i know there have been a bunch of threads on this but i don't recall any of them addressing my specific needs. it will be for business so the video is not important. here is basically what i'm looking for:

> amd processor (either duron or preferably athlon4, no k6-x cpu)
> 192megs ram (preferably 256)
> 20gig hard drive (10gig minimum, 15gig would be ok also)
> nic and modem (i need both)
> dvd/cd-rw (i'd like one with a combo drive)
> not sure about the screen, i guess something like 14.1 or 15 inch...but i'm not familiar with the standards
> good battery life, although i'm not too sure what good is
> win2k (i would settle for win98 but i don't like winME)

i assume any laptop comes with the basics like floppy, serial/printer ports, etc...

as for price, at the moment i'll say it doesn't matter.

normally i would get a dell...but the amd processor rules them out. i recall seeing a gateway and a compaq that kind of has what i want...does anyone have one of the amd models? any recommendations on where to look o what to get? i have never owned a laptop so i have no real experience with them...sorry if i'm asking dumb questions

HP makes some durons/tb too. I bought mine on an auction block from Ubid and it's outstanding. You might want to check them out.
