Notebook Recommendation

I am looking to get a notebook computer soon. I have always assembled my own desktops and have never owned a notebook. I was wondering what everyone recommended in the $1500 range. I have been eyeing the dell inspiron 8100.
 
i wasgoing to mention the dell. Of course, you'll have to slim it down a bit, only a 1Ghz processor, don't get the UXGA+ screen, 20gig HD instead of 30. I configured a kick ass one the other day because I am also thinking about getting one and it was less than 2 grand. The same one a couple weeks ago was $2200-$2300. You might even want to wait until right before Christmas, or early next year when post christmas slump causes them to start having awesome deals.
 
Did you end up ordering the dell? And if so how is it? I was thinking about 1gig, 20gig drive, superXGA 15" monitor. It was priced around $1800. They have a deal running right now with free shipping, and 256mb memory upgrade which ends Tuesday. Is that a good deal or are they always offering these kind of deals?
