Notebook memory...

Spoooon

Lifer
I'm ordering 512 megs of ram for my notebook (Compaq Presario 2100Z). At Crucial, they have a 512 PC2100 for 129.99. At Circuit City, they have 512 PC2700 Centon brand ram for 79.99 after $30 in rebates.

Should I just play it safe and pay extra for the Crucial brand? Or does it not matter since I'm not doing anything like overclocking and stuff.

Are you sure the Circuit City deal is for notebook memory? (Aren't notebook and desktop memory different?)

I'm pretty sure it was a SODIMM. I'm thinking about just living with 256 megs for now and adding ram later.

I have been running 2 Centon 512MB PC2700 modules in my Compaq 2100Z for about a month now. The are performing flawlessly. I got them at CC for $85 each with 2 $15 MIRs.

A coworker also bought the same notebook and the same memory and has had no problems either.

Cool. Maybe I'll be placing my order tonight.
