Recently I worked on a new HP dv7t series notebook for someone. I was hoping to just wipe and then reload just the os and put the drivers on and none of the crapware that it comes with. Well to my dismay the only way to get all the drivers because HP doesnt list them all on their website was to use the recovery discs.

All that basically does is install everything which I didnt want. My question now is there a way to extract just the drivers or a way to get just the drivers from notebook manufacturers that do it this way or do I really have to stick with the way I had ended up doing it?

Thank you for any help that you can provide.

This was several weeks ago that I had that notebook. But thank you. Like I said they have some of the drivers but not all of them. The only thing that has all of them is either the recovery partition or the recovery dvd neither of which can you only use the drivers. You must install all their free trial software with it. Those pages you listed are the ones I did use but only have certain drivers not all of them.

There were several that were unlisted and when I contacted support for atleast a download link they told me there is none. I do not remember anymore. But either way I was wondering if there is a way to extract the drivers from the dvd itself. I explored through the dvd but was unable to find any useful files.

What OS? What drivers?

Depending on what you're missing, you can look at the original chip manufacturer....

It looks like they have all the drivers on their website....

if you dont remember or won't say what is missing then its basically impossible to help you
would be much easier if you get them from the hp website. i can't imagine them not having every driver you need for that laptop. unless you are trying to get xp drivers for a machine that uses vista and only made drivers for vista

It has nothing to do with not saying. There were several drivers that were unknown devices. I installed everything from the website and still did not work. I even tried driver detective and that program was crap. There was nothing I could do but recovery mode from hp. Windows update didn't have the drivers either.

I even went into device description for some of them and googled it. It came back with several hits for hp drivers but I had no idea which to use. I didn't want to install the wrong version on the notebook. That's why I was asking if there is a way to extract the drivers from the cd.
