I would like to reinstall the OS on my laptop on a completely clean system. A friend has warned me though that notebook drivers can be a pain to find. If this is true, can't I just save the drivers I currently have loaded to reinstall them later?

For example, when you go into device manager, select a device, get the properties, go into driver taba nd hit driver details- are the files listed in that window all that's required? Is it possible there may be additional driver files those listed may depend on? I was hoping I can just save those particular files to use them later...

If its a dell, dont bother. Just get all the latest drivers online. Just save drivers for ur modem/ network card... so u can get online to download the rest :)

If ibm, are u doing a factory reset? If yes, no drivers needed.

I've got a Dell.

I just started looking around and I found just about all the drivers on their web site except one thing I am not sure if it is even covered by drivers or maybe the BIOS... the function keys ? My friend says when he formatted his Sony his function keys no longer worked until he used a rescue disk to reinstall the old configuration...
