When the power cord is unplugged fromt he notebook, and the notebook goes to the battery for its power sourse - the display dims - is there a setting to prevent this? Thanks.

There should be a setting in the bios to prevent auto dimming when on battery power. Check there first. What kind of laptop is it?

That was goign to be another question - how do I get to the bios settings? Its a Uniwill 258KA5 chasis - with an AMD64 3400+ - with an ATI 9700. I just can't find the sertings that would describe this. I am more concerned about it being a manufacturing default. I just got the laptop in the mail today and I am checking it out to make sure everythign is running OK.

So - how do I get to the BIOS? And - how do I get those fancy readouts on the processor speed - I see people posting screen shots of them. I can read the system components and what not.
