My mother just bought an HP Pavillion ze2401xt notebook from circuit city and they are trying to convince her to get the 2 year service plan because "they will replace the battery every 6 months for free." The question is does the battery really need to be replaced every 6 months?
thanks all

I still have my original battery for my laptop with an extended warranty. Battery life hasn't tanked, so I haven't bothered because it will probably take em 3 weeks to get the battery and install it (Bought from BestBuy) :p

I got the warranty only to cover the LCD and any other problems that might need $$$ to repair. Right now I'm almost hoping to have another problem with my laptop so I can exchange it for a more current model :)

No, but every 3 years or so is about normal. I believe in being self-insured for such things. Figure this way - Circuit City wouldn't do it if it was not profitable for them. And, if it is profitable for them, it is not profitable for me. :)
