i own a travelmate 371 which i bought about 6 months ago, and just recently, it no longer charges the battery. the AC adapter works because it powers the book, and the battery works (at least partially?) because it ran off whatever power was left in it...which has no dwindled into nothing.

anyone have a similar problem or fix? if not, i guess it's time to ship it off for repair.

Sometimes this will happen if for certain reasons.

1. It hasnt been used in your notebook for a long time since purchase.
2. You constantly drain all of its life before recharging.
3. Some various problem with the battery....

I cant help with the specifics but I am pretty sure those are major problems with some batteries and most have one solution...buying a new one.

(maybe someone here knows any solutions?)

I would return it under warranty if it's only six months old. Typically warranties don't cover the battery but if you make enough fuss they will. Possibly just resetting the batteries power management settings will fix it. How to do this varies from system to system. Check with the manufacturer.

I can't see how any Li-ion battery could die so quickly. I assume it's a Li-ion battery.
