Notebook advice

I may be getting a new notebook computer soon and I need some recommendations on what to get. It is basically going to be used for writing and maybe for some light internet activities. I have a PC with all the trimmings to work on my video editing and 3D modeling, but I need something to take around town when I write my screenplays, as it gets boring typing in my room. I am looking at spending between $800 and $1300 and would like something with at least 512MB of ram and something that will last a while. Thanks for your help.

Get a new Dell 1150 (2.6cellery, 256mb, 30gb hd, cdrw/dvd, xp) for $600.

My wife picked up a Toshiba a while back. Not sure which model but it was a P4 with a 40 gig HD. Works great. Wireless internet (drools). Gave me a nice excuse to pick up a wireless router anyway.
