Note to self: Don't catch falling knives

I have a beautiful set of forged Grohmann kitchen knives with rosewood handles. These are easily the best and nicest knives I've ever had the pleasure to use.. better than my other forged Henkels, Wusfhofs and that's saying something. They're just friggen fantastic. If you look at them the wrong way, you'll start to bleed.

Anyhow, as I was cleaning my bread knife yesterday after dinner and it slipped out of my right hand... first instinct (one that I will have to break) is yep, Catch the knife.! Yeah, smart move, retard. :roll: So, suffice to say that the index finger on left hand is nicely bandaged up this AM.

That's a rule that you learn in both boy scouts and the food service industry. It doesn't matter how confident you are that you can grab the handle, it's alot easier to clean it off after it's hit the floor.

Oh, a little tip. Do the same with small parts. It's MUCH easier to find if you watch it fall.

I don't think I've ever dropped a knife. And it's not because I don't use a knife, since I cut up meat and veggies all the time with them.

Yes.. that is the ideal.. but like I said, I just instictively went to catch it for some bizzare reason.

I usually do the little spread the feet dance if I drop not only anything sharp but also heavy, but this time I didn't. I suspect it was because I was somewhat hunched over the sink.

Oh well. Got pwned by my own knife.
