Fantastic news! I actually received the 4.2.2 update though right away after I took it out of the box (bought mine December 2013).

I knew I wanted this tablet when I bought it, and had plans on how to use it, but I didn't expect that I was going to like it this much. It really fits what I need in a tablet, although I used to scoff at 7-8" tablet and thought that there's no way less than 10" tablets can be useful for me (posted about this here too, several years ago).

Anyway, I'm actually happy with 4.2.2, but of course an update is always welcome. Can't wait until I get it.

I just bought mine for $200 on Clearance from a local shop this past weekend

Its still on 4.1.2 - No update available currently for me. (Unless I need to install Kies to update it, haven't checked that yet)

I was worried about the screen as my previous tablets have all been 2560x1600 (Nexus 10 from launch to this previous christmas, until it decided to go for a swim thanks to my daughter, then briefly a Tab Pro 8.4 but returned it), but Its not bad at all. Now that I'm used to it I never notice it. I decided I didn't want to spend that much on a Tablet right now and settled on this. I only use it a few hours a week.

I really wanted a 8 inch Tablet and wanted to stay around $200. This was the best deal I could find.

What country are you in that the Note 8 didn't get an OTA?

Also, you returned the superior in every way TabPro 8.4 for the inferior in every way Note 8?

You quoted the answer to your question basically.

Didn't want to spend $440 with Tax for the Tab Pro 8.4 when the Note 8.0 was 1/2 the price and does what I want for the amount of time I use it.

I'd rather have the Tab Pro 8.4 but I have 2 babies under the age of 2 and a wife on maternity leave. I'll survive with the Note 8.

The Tab Pro 8.4 was an impulse buy. Shouldn't have done it to begin with really.

Canada.

I know its still earlier in the morning here, but not seeing that. Unless you meant you just haven't bothered to connect the Note 8 to WiFi . . . because it'll check for updates automatically periodically.

My Note 8 pulled the OTA last night. 720MBs. Haven't had much time with KitKat on it yet, but visually its identical to 4.2.2 save for the white KitKat icons in the notification area.

I got mine today.

Haven't really played around with it but just like you I didn't notice any difference besides the KitKat white icons.

I don't really care if there's nothing significant. It's just fun to say that I've got KitKat!

There's Knox too, but I don't really use that.
