Note 4 vs Iphone 6+ Camera Shootout

This was done in Russia. The top pictures are the Note 4 and the bottom are Iphone 6+. Looks like Samsung's camera is sharper than the iphone 6+. Also better in low light performance.

Edit: Example of the Note 4's low light superiority over the Iphone 6+

Left is Note 4, right is 6+. The Note 4 has better detail, less noise.

I think pretty much they're going to be two of the best smartphone cameras you can get. However, while low light performance of the Note 4 camera is much improved over the Note 3, I've seen a few comparison pics of low light that show the iPhone 6 Plus pulling in a non-trivial more amount of light. However the Note 4 pictures are decent compared to the Note 3 ones being near black.

As a Note 3 owner and soon to be Note 4 owner, I don't have a problem with saying the iPhone 6 Plus camera is probably still going to be the slighly better all round camera, especially for social purposes, as long as you don't need high res photos.

The trees look better in the right picture. More contrast, better defined contours. Note 4's pic looks pretty processed to me.

IDK what the yellow glow in the right picture is, but I'm guessing it's not supposed to be there.

i dont think most people care about quality of a camera on a phone.
cause if they do, they would get a dslr 🙂
no lie.

I don't know if that example shot is any more about resolutions than low-light performance.

dslr is too bulky to be walking around with 24/7. A good camera on a device you always carry is very useful.

White balance and color looks better in iPhone to me. Just "warmer" photos and look better in those regards. Note comes off a bit sterile in several shots (teddy bear one in particular). Also the one looking up the glass building was much better with iPhone.

It's not a run away hit for Note. Both are excellent shooters for a phone.

I think both are very good, though I like the top ones better (I don't know which phone that is, doesn't say on imgur).

The iPhone picture looks noisier, which seems to have been the case with almost every iPhone camera in low light conditions. The note 4 picture looks more washed out though. I'd like to see what they look like with better lighting.

From the first 2 pictures of that imgur album alone: I don't know which phone is the upper-half but for the love of god please lay off the sharpening.

(Option B is that someone downscaled the image from higher res using a crappy downsampler)

Are the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture in the EXIF in the source photos? If the difference is due to the Note 4 having a longer exposure time, I'm not impressed - in the real world phone shots in low light are fighting blur due to long exposure times more than anything.

I think the iPhone may be getting in trouble here with its always overly aggressive automatic contrast and sharpening filters.

After going through the zipped photos, I think it's obvious that regardless of whichever you prefer, the iPhone is definitely *not* the one with aggressive filtering.

They both look damn good for smartphone cameras. I debated back and forth about Note 4 vs 6+ mainly because of the camera issue, but finally settled on the Note 4 for the entire package and pre-ordered the other day (although I'm thinking of cancelling my Black order and ordering White instead). Looks like the camera will be just fine.

Both are good, but it is obvious that Note 4 produces better overall picture quality. Now I'll have to see how well it operates.

Which is interesting given that the iPhone picture appears to be the better looking photo.

Is there an article or any information to go along with these photos? Forgive me if I wait until we see more comparisons before drawing a conclusion.

Speaking for myself, it is likely that whichever of these phones produces better pictures will be my next phone.

Jeez guys, top is Note 4, bottom is Iphone 6+, as i said in the OP.

Missed that. Your left/right at the end of your post confused me. 😛

I like the Note 4 better, looks more real to me while the iPhone is too warm. But both are still good I think.

haha This reminds me of AVS forums when everybody is checking out screenshots of Blu-ray and HD DVD posted by Xylon

You guys think the iPhone 6 / 6+ has a way better camera than the LG G3? I haven't found any good articles pitting their cameras head-to-head. I have a LG G3 that I really like, but I would switch to iPhone 6 if it had a way better camera (I'm too lazy to carry around a DSLR or point and shoot on a daily basis).
