I've have a case on mine about 50% of the time. So far I haven't gotten any scratches in the few months I've had the Note 4.

Is yours scratching on the silver chamfered edge or on the painted sides? I thought about getting the white Note 4, but figured scratches on that white paint would be a lot more visible than on the dark gray model.

Not a single one, but I keep mine in a case. I am tempted to go naked tho... It just feels so much nicer.

Tons of little scratches on mine. I don't care though because I always end up handing them down to family and friends with no intention of reselling.

I've dropped my black one onto pavement on the corner and the black coloring did not scratch off, there is a ding there but it's still black. I think it's annodized instead of painted maybe? Anyways the silver chamfered edges get scratched pretty easily but it only bothered me when I first got it, now that it's a little older I don't care anymore. The only real way to keep a phone in near perfect condition is to put it in a big case, otherwise I don't think you can expect the body to not pick up some normal "wear and tear".

I have a white note 4 and do not use a case; so far don't notice any scratches but i find hte notches a bit confusing (there are 2 on the bottom and 2 on the top).

Having a case is the answer! I have sold all of my old smartphones as mint thanks to wrapping them up.
