Ah, that kinda sucks. I was hoping for some sort of "surface" tablet announcement for Windows 8. :)

You've got be kidding me. A 5.5" screen rumored? Really?

Is 6" the line between phone and tablet? And everything between 5" and 6" is a phablet? Or do we start tablets at 7"?

Holy hell... A 5.5" phone... Damn... Wife already calls the GNex a "mini tablet".

Hey that's what I love about Android, all kinds of device options.

Now they just need to come to Verizon...

If it does actually have a 5.5" 1680x1050 screen and Jellybean I'll buy one the first second that it is available. Hopefully it will also get Exynos 5250 or Krait Pro as well.

It will probably be too expensive to me. At around 400 euro (unlocked), I might look into it, but beyond that it's just ridiculous.
Seeing how the last note launched at closer to 700 euro, I'm expecting this one to also start at that price. And that's just not worth it.
Oh yeah, it'll also need a bloody kickstand, HD-decoding support and keyboard/mouse support as well as HDMI out and a USB host. But then those are on my 3 year old Android tablet, so there's no way it can't have those, right? right?

I'm surprised how well the first Galaxy Note did. It seemed like a great phone, but I didn't think so many people would want a phone so large. So this time around I won't be surprised if the Note 2 does very well too.

I'd like one, but I also want a phone I can put in my pocket (and still be able to sit down). So I might have to limit myself to 4.8 inches and under.

eh we do but you really have no choice when it comes to wanting a powerful device. you either have to go with the absurdly large screen sizes or you're relegated to a craptastic phone.

it may be choice but it's not that much choice. i'd say an analogy is the "choice" the sentenced victims got in TDKR in exile or death...

I think choice would've been if we had a 4", 4.5", and 5" version of the GS3. All without sacrificing hardware specs.

So the Note comes out in March 2012, now the Note 2 will probably be out in October. This is okay to people? This is almost as bad as the Note coming out and the SG3 coming out a few months later and Samsung saying the Note wouldn't be getting the S-Voice update and people should go buy an SG3 if they want it. I think I'll wait until February 2013 and just get the Note 3.

I don't think that's a very good analogy. It is clearly a good variety of choice. Obviously a lot of people really like larger sized screens (as I do) or they wouldn't be making so many different models.

Smaller phones are out there, just not in the US. I even recall some very small iPhone-sized Galaxy's in London.

The original Note came out in October 2011.

I think there are plenty of people who have average sized hands who will tell you going beyond 4.3" is difficult. I'm in that group. I have medium sized hands. If you wear large or XL gloves, sure you could definitely go larger.

But those iPhone sized Galaxys are not state of the art devices. 4.8" is difficult, but not impossible to manipulate. And while people will put up with it, choice would be if you really had a 4" SGS3 and a 5" SGS3 all with the same specs.

Maybe at least a 4.5" and 5" I can understand if 4" is too small. Or 4.3" and 4.8"

As I've mentioned before, most Note owners seem to be women.

I've got pretty small hands and the Nexus works fine. Shifting the phone up to the fingers and back is reflexive now... and all Swyping is two handed anyway.

I'd go for a 4.3" phone. 5.5"? wow, the original note is already pretty huge. I've seen a few people use it during a phone conversation and its ridiculous.
