Worries me.

Intelligent people will weigh pros and cons and over time may quit having kids.

That leaves the less intelligent people to breed.

FYI, choosing to not have kids doesn't mean you get "Darwin'ed out"... We have moved past "survival of the fittest" as a species. While we are still evolving, it's moved beyond simply the most fit individuals reproduce. In order for that concept to work we would have to have a significant child mortality rate (i.e. <16 years old).

If you're talking about removing ourselves from the evolutionary gene pool, well I don't believe that I *have* to pass on my genes to contribute to society. Beyond that, how many people remember their ancestors prior to their grandparents and potentially great grandparents? So essentially I'm irrelevant after 3-4 generations anyways and will be forgotten. So you get to "live on" in your genes. Who the fuck cares? You're still dead...

Humanity has gained intelligence as a species over time. We will continue to do so regardless of whom is having kids. Also it's pretty much a proven fact at this point that the more educated the women of a society are, the less kids they have.

Yet we still are advancing as a species...

Debatable. We may be advancing technologically, but as a society...not so much.

Enjoy your genetic extinction dodo!

you're so proud about achieving nothing but having unprotected sex? you have kids - so what? your bloodline will end at some point. maybe SIDS, a war, a natural disaster. but it will end.

it's sad that your progeny living on makes you feel good about yourself. do you have nothing in your life apart from procreation that makes you happy?

Give it enough time and development - the technology will become the superior Earth-originated intelligence. If we raise it up right, it won't inherit our species' penchant for efficiently killing other things, and maybe it'll either leave us alone, or take an interest in helping us along in our nice little bags of iron-laden saltwater.:)

Yea if anything it proves people aren't selected for intelligence otherwise we would all be intelligent by now.

Seems like people are selected for intelligence during the build-up developing phase and then people are selected for not giving a shit so long as they eat during the developed phase.
