Got my TV today, but haven't turned on yet because I had to leave to work. Will post over the weekend or earlier my short review.

But yes, the OP does have a point. If you need something NOW, and don't want to deal with lines, rebates, gift cards or other oddities and can live with hot, heavy and big (even the big ones need lovin')... it's a fair deal.

Yap, that's all I was trying to say really. I also apologize if I didn't deliver my point clearly. In my case I really needed something NOW, because I cannot afford a TV that's more than $400 and the cable company is offering to waive the installation fee and the monthly 2nd cable box fee because of the grief their tech caused earlier. I figured if I wait a month, they'll tell me they don't remember offering me anything, but now, I will actually get what I want. Besides, for $400 I can afford to buy another new TV next year same time if this one dies. Had I paid lots more, it would be quite a problem. ; )

Sadly, this is a story without a happy ending... : ( TV arrived with a smashed in screen. either the bastards who were transporting it did it or it happened in the warehouse. It's going back, and I just hope Walmart will not try to accuse me of smashing the screen.

1st ever time in my life when I ordered something online and it arrived truly, and completely broken and not functioning...

UPDATE: Walmart took the TV back without any problems but I had a scare when customer service employee told me they don't take back online orders. Thank god one of the more experienced employees was next to her and said "NO, WE DO TAKE BACK ONLINE ORDERS!!!", otherwise this would probably turn into one of those usual nasty situations where I am forced to call the manager... The girl taking back the TV took her time to tell me I should take this as a lesson not to order stuff like this online. She's hardly doing the store shes working in a good service by saying that.

Anyway, I ended up going to Best Buy next door to that Wallmart and buying a 51" Samsung plasma. Got totally ripped off for $650 + nyc tax making it $705 when it's $600 on Amazon, but I really just wanted to have a TV in my living room and wasn't willing to wait another day for it. At least the plasma is good. Great colors, great performance.

Not sure this changes whether or not it's a good deal...

But that sucks, sorry to hear :(

You're right, it probably doesn't, but it did for me, and left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm definitely never ordering online from Walmart again. From Amazon? sure. Newegg? BuyDig? BestBuy? Definitely. Walmart? Hell no. My fault off course. I knew Walmart was very far from me and the experience of driving it back would be unpleasant, but still took the risk.
