What are the big differences between the Zen and the Zen NX?

looking @ the specs:

http://www.nomadworld.com/products/jukebox_zen_nx/specs.asp
http://www.nomadworld.com/products/jukebox_zen/specs.asp

the nx only supports usb1.1/2.0 while the non-nx supports both usb1.1/2.0 and firewire(ieee1394)

the nx has 20/30gb versions and the non-nx has 20/60gb versions

the non-nx is 1mm larger in thickness but the other dimensions remain the same.

the non-nx has 16mb of ram compared to 8mb on the nx.

guess the nx is like the lite version of the non-nx.

Oh silly Creative.... The ipod has 32mb RAM, and I thought creative would try to match it. At least don't lower it....

Anyone know if the lower ram will cause problem? skipping?

Oh, and I looked at the spec, the only better things about the nx is it's lighter than the non-nx, and you can change the battery.

If the price of the 20gb drops below 200, i'll prob get it.

so the non-nx is actually better than the new nx? Ugh...why can't anybody invent something as good as the Ipod for PC's. Yes, that green display is ugly

Since MP3's typically are 1MB/minute, 8MB allows the player to cache 8 minutes of music. Given average song is about 3-4 minutes, I'd say that skipping is highly unlikely. The larger memory in the iPOD allows it to keep the hard drive spun down for longer periods. This assumes that the iPod will load more than one song at a time. The question becomes: How does the hard drive spin/spin down policy effect the reliability?

my archos running rockbox only has 2mb of ram and it doesnt skip, all the ram does is make the hd spin up less. This conserves battery life and makes it last around 14 hours instead of say 10. To me i was like holy crap 16mb of ram ..lol
