Here's the retail DVD +/- RW: here

Here's your rebate coupon (expires July 31st): here

EDIT1:
Forget above link to AccuPC. I was given this info by a friend who works at Sony (I live near a Sony Outlet Store), so I didn't even bother to read all the way to the bottom of the rebate form. Sorry for not catching that. Forget about this post, unless you didn't know about the rebate and purchased from either Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Office Depot, Staples, Quill, Fry's, The Wiz, American TV, J&R, State Street, Nebraska Furniture, Brandsmart, Datavision, RC Willey, Bailios, outpost.com, Ultimate Electronics, Sony Style, WalMart.

EDIT2:
I can get this at Staples for $309.98 - $30 (rebate) - $30 (coupon for over $150 purchase, got 2 of 'em) = $249.98 (NH has no sales tax, and shipping appears to be free on this item as it's over $50)

According to the rebate form, if the drive is not purchased from one of the listed dealers, the rebate won't be honored.

I didn't see this dealer listed. Any insight?

Retail version of the SonyDRU510A is pretty hot. The OEM drive is even cheaper now at only $194 bux with free shipping
PriceGrabber

If the rebate applies to this company (which I'm not sure if it does) then its $164 with free shipping.

Thats just awesome.

I believe you can get it for just a couple dollars more at Amazon and will qualify for the $50 GC and free shipping.

That is NOT the OEM of the 510A, it is the OEM of the 500A. The OEM 510A is ~$245 on pricewatch and is called the DW-U14a

I believe the only difference is the 510A rewrites at 4x, vs the 500A that rewrites at 2x. BTW, I have the $129 500A from OD as well ;)

I dont mean to flame but any 4x burner over $200 is a rip off. retail or oem.

The same copy of nero you already have will burn dvd's and thier are free programs that copy dvd's.
not even retail versions are worth that much.

They are about to come out with 8x dvd burners soon anyway.

i would take the 510 in a heartbeat. sony just released a program that affects the 510a/ul by letting it rip single layer dvd's at 12x and dual layer at 8x. other rippers do it at 2x. meaning you effectively shave off about 30-40 minutes off the whole ripping process.

link to the program (called DSS [drive speed selector], scroll down, fill out the quick survey, viola!): here

link to the cdfreaks.com article talking it (credit of course goes to VCDmonger, who originally published the news at aforementioned site): here

It's dual...not just any 4x burner.
