Got pretty quiet, I wonder why there isn't any criticism of McCain's association with ACORN.

Here is the OP from CAD:

"Come on now - who didn't see this coming? It seems at every turn there is another associate or organization that BHO has to distance himself from and/or suggest they weren't what he thought they were... and still some of you want a person like that to lead our country? An abysmally pathetic judge of character is BHO."

Any independent non-biased person can see that both candidates have ties to ACORN and to level the above criticism against Obama's judge of character is to level the same claims towards McCain.

I wonder why people are even talking about this like it is some sort of "game changer"

its just another in a long list of election issues that this country has faced and will face.

Obama is not the 'evil empire' and ACORN is not the vast army of storm troopers that the 'right' like to think it is. This sh!ts been going on a loooong time.

Maybe because this thread is about BHO and ACORN? Maybe because McCain sucks anyway and isn't lying about his association(slim as it may be).
He isn't lying about it because no one is asking him about it because quite frankly, no one cares.

no one cares.

They both suck but on this issue they cancel each other out.

Earlier you said this thread was about voter fraud and ACORN. I think it's fair to add that McCain is no stranger to the organization that you are blasting Obama for supporting.

 "cancel each other out"? IS that why you posted:
Which is why this topic is useless.

Also, it's laughable for you or anyone else to consider a co-sponsered amnesty rally attended by McCain with BHO's ties to ACORN. You apologists are funny. Divert, play apologist, attempt weak ass rationalization....etc Absolutely pathetic...

yeah I think its kinda funny too how everyone on the Right is trying to make a big deal about ACORN

everyone except McCain.

hmmmm wonder why..... :D

Hey there is no doubt its a big deal to you. And you and your kind just keep wailing against that librul media and the fact that no one "reports the truth" about Obama and ACORN.

just keep at it, its really going to pay off for ya. youbetcha! *wink*

Tell us, CAD, what makes BHO's ties to ACORN more serious than McCain's? Serious question.

Your last 3 sentences are what you do in every post, so at least the irony is at your usual comic level.

Unfortunately, I don't have a link for Rhodes' comments. Here's my summary:

ACORN for decades has been a group interested in registering more voters. It's focused on the poor. It tends to hire people like homeless people, and other poor, to register voters.

It pays them by the registration, so sometimes the workers do wrong and submit phony registrations - they'll put in registrations for 'Mickey Mouse' or a bunch that they signed themselves, all with the same signature, to make a little extra money. *ACORN reviews every submitted registration form and researches every suspicious form*. ACORN supervisors make phone calls to verify the suspicious forms.

Now here's the kicker: ACORN is required by law to submit all the forms, no matter how obvious the problem. And so they break out the suspicous forms, and submit them as suspicious with the rest of the forms, because they have to. Republicans know they have to do this - and so they take advantage of it, by taking those forms submitted as suspicious, and then telling the media how they're proof of ACORN voter fraud.

(Some suspect the Republicans might even put people in as ACORN workers to submit some of the false forms, but it doesn't matter to the larger issue).

So, this is an outrageous lie by the Republicans. Their actual agenda is to *oppose* democracy by trying to minimize the number of new voters - mostly democratic - registered by making attacks they know are false against the group who is doing a great job at getting a lot of people registered.

Let's remember where the real corruption is - how the Bush administration pressured US Attorneys to file charges against ACORN for voter fraud, and when the US Attorneys did large investigations and found there were zero prosecutable cases from the investigations, the admnistration got rid of the Atorneys for refusing to file false prosecutions, behaving as the law should and does require.

I don't give a rats ass about McCain - I was commenting on people trying to divert to McCain and then try to equate their association levels. It's patently absurd based on what the diverters posted here. If there is more on McCain - fine but speaking at an amnesty rally co-sponsored by ACORN is nothing compared to what BHO's association with them is. There are atleast 800 thousand reasons why BHO's associations are more serious.

ACORN itself is a corrupt(or at minimum willingly inept) organization who enables fraud.

Now enough with the diversions, read the OP. It has nothing to do with McCain or whatever other BS you people want to diver with.

Most of the right didn't even know what ACORN was until Rush and the other wingnut radio hacks starting blowing this up a couple of months ago.
It's kind of like the housing crisis. Just over a month ago, you couldn't get a wingnut like CAD to even admit that there was the possibility of a housing bubble (even though we are already more than a year into it, I have been predicting it for 5 years, and it has thus far been going down almost exactly as I called it 2 years ago, how's that cheap home, senseamp?;) ). And now they've woken up too late from their stupor and are all in an uproar that the fault for all of it lies solely and entirely on the CRA, ACORN, and the Dems. It's complete bullshit, and they haven't the slightest clue what they're talking about, but Rush said so, so it must be so.

And then they're at McCain rallies chanting "Take it to Obama!" "Obama's a terrorist!" and McCain winces. And why? Because he realizes that these know-nothing idiots chanting talk radio soundbites and chain emails are practically all that's left of the Republican party, and he's fscked either way.

My take on the party is tear it down and force it to learn from its mistakes and rebuild. It'll be back in 2012 much better for it. Hopefully as part of Mainstream America again.

Ah blow it out your lower orifice, you sound like you get your talking points straight from Palin's handlers. Every time that Woman is quoted on CNN's Political Ticker making desperate attacks on Obama's character you show up with a desperate thread of your own talking about the same shit that nobody but those desperate like you really care about. So obviously it has a lot to do with McCain because all this crap is coming straight from his campaign.

absolutely.

It won't stop the 'devoted' and the 'blessed' GOP followers from clinging to their guns/religion/party.

But there is still "HOPE" that a "CHANGE" will happen for the Republicans.

Keep fighting the good fight CsG. You sir...are a TRUE AMERICAN.

Pal, you are like the living, breathing, rabidly posting fountain of diversions.

Answer the question. What makes BHO's ties to ACORN more serious than McCain's? You don't even know. You just want to pin ACORN on Obama and you don't have a damn thing but to hope that repeating the 2 names together as much as possible will make it so. And then when someone demands proof, you divert by labeling them an apologist. Rinse. Repeat.

And it's not like there aren't Republican-oriented organizations who get mixed up in similar voter fraud. Bill Sizemore's Oregon Taxpayers United (primarily anti-union activism) has been directly involved in the exact same kind of voter fraud every single year here for the past 15 years. Hell, he's been successfully sued for millions for racketeering and fraud, and we had to pass a law making it so political organizations couldn't pay signature gatherers per signature (for registration or for petition to get a measure on the ballot) just because of Sizemore. And he's a Republican with vague ties to McCain. Oh noes, I'll be like you and try to make a mountain out of molehill!!

Its his campaign (along with the rabid right radio) that is vomiting all over itself with messages of ACORN and AYERs.

Sounds like somebody's jealous of the group that got 1.3 million people to register and (most likely) vote for Obama. Republican tears hitting a keyboard make quite an unusual sound. ;)

Here I am, at least attempting to discuss this ACORN issue with a straight face, and half my points get ignored.

Here it is again - the guy in your OP link, Darnell Nash, seems downright determined to vote more than once. Even the article you cited makes it sound like Ash and ACORN are connected, but it seems like his latest actions were taken independently:

But still, he breezed into Ohio election offices - the state allows early voting for president - reregistered with a fake address and cast a paper ballot, officials said.

"He came in on 9/30 and Mr. Nash again registered to vote at [someone else's] address, and he cast a ballot," said board official Jane Platten.

From what I can tell, Ash's latest attempt had zero to do with ACORN, considering he just waltzed into an election office and cast a paper ballot using fraudulent info.

Again, did ACORN somehow walk Ash into the election office and force him to vote under an assumed name and address? So riddle me this - how is it ACORN's fault?

Furthermore, how would it even be possible for ACORN to police the roughly 13,000 people they hired to register people to vote? You don't suspect that out of that many people, some of them are going to try and do something stupid?

Furthermore, out of all the "fraudulent" voter reg apps submitted, something like 5% of all apps from the Cleveland area, how many were ALREADY flagged by ACORN as fraudulent or problematic in some way?

It's interesting when these sources throw numbers around like this and yet there's no discussion of whether ACORN already flagged them or not.

Well you aren't a Mod so you are in no position to tell others to stay strictly on topic, which BTW, no Moderator does. Secondly it all has to do with the desperate attacks made by the McCain Campaign which this is one of so anything about them is fair game in this thread. However if you think there is some unfair bias against you by the Moderating Staff here feel free to PM Derek. That said knock off the innuendos about Mod Bias or you will be taking some time away from these forums, probably until after the election.
