Why does a rape victim care what some dimwitted Senator has to say? It's not like he was saying that they deserved it. I don't agree with the Senator, but to make it this big of deal, then lump us all in is just plain stupid. There are bigger things to be worrying about right now, don't you think?

When you're one of 100 people who have the ability to propose laws and gets to vote on changes to laws, I think it can be a big deal what you say and believe. You or I saying or doing something stupid has little overall impact on this country. At worst we piss off some friends or embarrass our families. When a Senator holds a remarkably stupid view ... that man can slip clauses into laws!

Now to say this moron's views are widespread is exaggeration (I hope). But the point is correct that his views aren't unique within the GOP. They're not a majority opinion, but they're not exclusive to him either.

You are talking about a slippery slope that isn't even on the horizon, and I think that fact that almost all Republican politicians have come out against him, many asking him to step out of the race is indicative of that.

Sure, I agree and understand that, but that's not the take of the OP and that is what frustrates me the most. We could easily find similar nonsense on the other side and sometimes it gets posted. The reaction is similar and similarly stupid.
 
I get what the crazy guy said now. He doesn't believe woman are people. So when he says its impossible to get pregnant from rape, that means men who are raped can't get pregnant. Which is true.
