You could always go with a TDI and get your turbo and diesel need out of the way. An Audi A4 quattro 3.0l TDI would be pretty damn nice.

You can fairly easily find a Volvo S60R or V70R for that kind of money.
It is quality, it is AWD, and it is fast (Turbo)

The interior and seats of an R Volvo are practically second to none, at least for the price range.

I drove an evolve edition s60r before buying my Evo. Not even in the ballpark. Interior feels cramped. It is not fast; needs to be reved out to feel peppy. Suspension isn't very sporty. I had a good friend with one as well and the awd system isn't very strong. I can't remember exactly what part it is that fails but it has a known weak point. It isn't a bad car but not a comparable car to the subie or mitsu

just get a 1G DSM and spend another 3-5k and have an 11 second car. You can get one for 2500 these days. You can be crazy cheap and buy used parts and spend 4k altogether.

Be careful with the evo's & subies, a lot of guys ripped those trannies up in no time. Be prepared to negotiate & get repaired. There are plenty of specialists around tho ... Andrewtech for instance.

STI trans are pretty strong, as are the 5 spd evo trans. WRX trans and evo IX MR 6 spd trans are relatively fragile when you up the power

Wasn't really looking to race. But wanted an AWD for sure with how nasty the winters have been getting.

The Diesel thing is not a must but always heard they last longer engine wise.

I am a computer nerd and love to tweak that but no garage or want to tweak/mod any car. I can do simple things on cars and like to keep it that way.

I almost got a 2011 Outback sports wagon last year then backed out of it and cheaped out getting the Cobalt two months later. The cobalt was 4k cheaper but got a nice raise since then so regretting getting the cheap drive quality cobalt. To much road noise, seats suck. Just feels cheap. Also the lack of power windows/doors is ok when it is just me in the car. But went on a few dates and annoying to have to make sure the other doors are locked.

for 10-12, you could find a decent WRX or forester turbo.
I would personally opt for an evo, but you need to get beyond 15k in order to get one that isn't trashed

Yes within 15000 range you can find it easily

The Audi A4 that bad reliability wise?

My cousin and I had 2010 a4s. He still has his.

Both burned about a quart of oil every 1500 miles due to defective piston rings which is now a known issue that was previous lay denied. Mine had the exhaust fail at 40k miles so it had to be replaced. Fuel injector had to be replaced at 9k miles after it blew out on the freeway . Hell the 2009 models had faulty control arms too. And this is their latest stuff

Anyway i sold mine so now someone can get a used car that may be a nightmare.

Friend of mine bought a 2013 s4 the other day after I told him good luck with Audi. 5 days and the electronic parking brake fails.

Have another friend with an 08 a4 that has been flat bedded away multiple times.

I would hesitate to recommend a new Audi. But a used one, hell you might end up with one that someone sold for being unreliable.
