Not sure my comp is running correctly

Hiya!

I purchased this awhile ago, and it... I don't know, doesn't seem like everything is working the way it should, and I seem to have lag problems I don't think I should have. Especially compared to my last rig I had. Anyway, here are the specs:

AMD 4200+ 64
Radeon X1900XTX
2gb ocz platinum pc3200
ASUS A8N-E
Enermax Liberty ELT500AWT 500W
Seagate Barracuda 300GB 7200.9

Now, my problems are hard to pinpoint, as there are not many specifics. Just the gut feeling that something is wrong. Aside from this:

When I'm playing games, sometimes the outside of my monitor (I'm using a Dell2001FP in 1600x1200) has bright pixels around it, its almost like the blackness you get when your monitor is off-center, but replace the black with glowing bright colors. For those who play World of Warcraft, it's especially noticeable underwater, if that helps anyone.

Second problem, is it crashes consistantly infrequently. I will get random crashes, ONLY when I am alt-tabbing back and forth between games. (WoW in specific). And I've also had it overheart (Perhaps, I don't think it should with my setup) when I opened two copies of WoW (I could do it on my old one with far less cooling, so It shouldnt be a problem). It might not be overheating, but it has the same symptons. Auto-reset and such.

When it freezes while alt tabbing, the products are different. Sometimes only half of WoW loads and you see a 'glitched' screen like you would if you remember NES, sometimes all of it loads but it's just frozen...

All little random things like this.

Basically, what I'm asking: Is there anyway I can put my computer through a series of tests and such that can pinpoint if it is indeed performing the way it should, or if there is a problem with it?

Thanks.
