Not seeing the point of bleeding edge currently

I personally think it is all about 30 inch monitors, like mine. But still, having 3x those at 7680x1600 makes me jealous :C of course, then there are driver/eyefinity issues, plus lack of game support, plus the you will be totally GPU bound, even by the bleeding edge.

OP: depending on the games you will like to play, I would recommend either a good 1080 or 1200p monitor, or, for less demanding games, get a good 30 in.

only problem with the 30 inchers is the tech develops slowly and they are still $1000+. I got my monitor for $1100 which was a bargain, but unfortuneately it only has USB 2.0. Not sure when they will bring usb3 to high end monitors.

It is a matter of catering to him. OP isn't complaining about his purchase. He's complaining that it is pointless for nVidia and AMD to push the envelope because he doesn't see the need for stronger cards.

People are doing stereo monitors and 3D, both ways that increase demands on the video card.
