i just slapped the parts together for my QX6700 + evga680i A1 system and it is recognizing the 2 raptors but not recognizing the new HDD

the 2 raptors i've been using on my previous build and the new SATA HDD is a new one OEM.

i remember there was something i did on WinXP that i went and did something to recognize the new HDD but i am using Vista64 bit and i am a bit lost.

thanks for help in advance.

Don't remember (and too lazy to boot into Vista to check) but it should be the same or close to this.
Its a brand new drive? If so, right click on My computer and go to Manage. Then go to Disc Management and format your new drive.

I;m assuming your talking about the text based setup screen

you probably have to get the drivers off the driver CD, put the on a floppy disk and press F6 (I think) when it asks you if you want to setup any 3rd party scsi drivers durin windows setup.

Ummm. That was the case with XP pre-SP1 but Vista x64 has SATA support built-in. I think it's what Stogez has suggested; the drive just needs formatted.

I assumed that he was already in Vista. If not, then clarify and we can go from there. Although there isn't much you can check with a SATA drive.
