Yeah, tree farming is eco friendly, but the harvesting often isn't (they just burn the waste wood from branches and stuff. Though, my home town just built a power plant that burns all the tree farm waste from the surrounding area for electricity), and the paper processing is bad, as well as shipping. All in all, though, wasting paper isn't the worst thing in the world. Living in a mcmansion and commuting 1:30 hours a day is much, much, much worse.
A friend of my mom owns all the land around this lake, but for one part. That part is owned by a tree farming company. This is awesome, because tree farms just plant pine and let it grow for 15 or 20 years. So, that land isn't getting developed and they can walk through it and just treat it as a forest.
