The protest on the inauguration has begun. According to Not One Damn Dime dot com, they are pleading with people to voice their opinions by not spending any money today. Here is what I did to help......

Instead of making eggs at home before work, I went to Denny's
I needed gas in my car yesterday, I waited till today
Didn't make my lunch, going to lunch
Ordered a new couch and chair for the living room
Actually thinking about going down and buying a new car that I have been wanting to get
Taking the family out for dinner tonight

What are you doing?

meanwhile the rest of the US doesn't care and go through this day like any other. Buying food if they feel like it, getting gas if they need it, and shopping on a whim.

Well for Bush supporters, they certainly are not going to participate in this boycott.

As an aside, I have been spending money so far today, but only in the right places (and those would be the "left" places). I went to my normal breakfast place, and in the course of a short conversation I found out that the waitress, who I also know is a single mother with two little kids, voted for Bush in the election. Well I showed her, when it came time to pay, I didn't leave her a tip! That'll show those damn Bush voters.

Did I really do that? Of course not, because I'm not an idiot. There is such a thing as taking politics too far you know...

No, but they're being just a childish. It's like those anti-vegitarian people who claim they'll eat three times as much meat if someone they know stops eating meat to "make it worse".

Nullify the vegetarian moral crusade. Oh, and as soon as the inauguration speech is over, I will be heading to the store. Today seems like a perfect day to stock up ;)

When one side comes up with an attention grabbing protest concept, like not making any purchases on the day of Bush's inauguration, it is done with the intent of emoting a response...and the response is usually for the other side to behave in total defiance of said protest concept.

Just like those idiots from PETA who throw paint at people wearing fur coats, or those crazy Vegans who dress up like animals, cover themselves in blood and play dead outside of fast food chains...something about this sort of behavior just demands a response in defiance of such antics.

Kroger is having a special on T-Bones - $4.99/lb.

(What? I'm getting paid tomorrow, Saturday is grocery shopping day, so my wife and I have made out our list already. :p)

But yeah, since it's the day before payday, I won't be spending much money today. ;)

Are they?

I doubt that's corporate-wide. I'll stop by the one near my office anyway, just in case. ;)

They are usually local sales - our sales paper only lists about 4-5 stored where it is valid. I just know that Kirk is in Forth Worth, not too far from me, so he might be seeing the same thing. ;)

And since the weather is supposed to be 72° tomorrow, I may just pick some up then and grill. Catch a ride and I'll grill you one up too! (BYOB, however :p)
