And FISA has nothing to do with it apparently

In a statement, Google said it was “troubled by allegations of the government intercepting traffic between our data centers, and we are not aware of this activity.”

“We have long been concerned about the possibility of this kind of snooping, which is why we continue to extend encryption across more and more Google services and links,” the company said.

At Yahoo, a spokeswoman said: “We have strict controls in place to protect the security of our data centers, and we have not given access to our data centers to the NSA or to any other government agency.”

It is not hard for the government to tap into lines anywhere in the states and only a little harder to do it in different countries. If you know where the lines are buried, you can do whatever you want.

Do you have a point with these posts or do you just get off on pointing out problems with our government?

Hahahahaha!

This is "Politics and News" isn't it? Apparently posting the front-page article of the Washington Post in such a forum makes me the new dmcowen. :D Maybe I just think said article deserves some extra readership and discussion.

I've really pissed you off haven't I?

Here's the commentary your loins are so obviously yearning for: The NSA is bad, and it's even worse than we knew, details in the link in OP.

...I think the point is obvious???

NSA illegally tapping into private companies secure data with out telling them or the users of said private service.

But your tone I take it you are completely okay with this...?

haha, I'm sure you had the same opinion every time someone pointed out something stupid that happened during the GWB years right? Oh no, surely not, it's only when someone points out failures of government headed by the dear leader. :D So pathetic.

EVERYONE who loves freedom, regardless of political affiliation should be appalled and concerned with this stuff. Even if you believe the current administration is not inclined to abuse all the intelligence gathered by spying on citizens (and we already have indications they can and will), how confident are you that future administrations won't? Think of how much damage other regimes in history could have done with the kind of surveillance and information available to the NSA. It's scary, but most of the public is more concerned with what outfit one of the kardashian tramps wore today than they are about the future of the country.

He is perfectly OK with anything the exalted dear leader does. After all, if the dear leader says it's good, then it must be good for us.

What really gets me is the smile face used in the pic. How can ANY American citizen be okay working on a project like this.. Let alone be happy about it??? It's sick, really.

Secondly..They didn't even take the time to make this in Visio or something. It's just a sticky note that some doucher in the NSA hand wrote with a pencil. This means that this really isn't a big deal to them and this is likely just the tippy top of the iceberg.

Scary shit. We should all be freaking the fuck out, but every time something new gets revealed, it gets shoved under the rug by excuses, lies and deceit.

It is also impossible that Google would not know about this. Lots of people knew. It took Snowden's "betrayal" for the rest of us to find out.

The betrayal is every single person who opposes Snowden.

lolmao dumbass

I don't agree with some things IrishScott says but he posts more on topic relevant content in one post than you have in all the posts you've made. That's just the facts. You don't have to like them.

Of course its important to discuss how we are getting shafted by the ruling class. I guess we would be better off not knowing right? Is it a non-issue for government goons to record your every keystroke for sometime later? Think about this on a large scale. All your "representatives" (which is horseshit anyways) are being recorded. If they don't want to bend on a vote all that needs done is to review their "file" and find something that is not "socially acceptable" and threaten to leak it. Voila! They have another vote for their agenda.

Nope. Not important.

The fact that we have an out of control NSA that feels the need to spy on all of us seems to me to be kind of important.

This is not a matter of "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" or "this is only to find terrorists". This is ultimately to control the population as we turn into a police/surveillance state.

Yea I'm normally the one saying "who cares?" but this is getting a bit concerning. I mean...is anything private anymore? Certainly not phone calls, email or web usage.

Lol!

His point was illustrated with one non sensical sentence. But seeing as how all of you were able to determine my position and feelings from a question I asked, it must be nice being psychic.

Please continue with your straw man conversation though. When dmcowen posts another thread with a small meaningless comment I'll expect the same type of response from you guys.

You have to be one of the most abrasive posters on here, willing to toss out personal insults just because the subject at hand makes you uncomfortable. That you think the issue irishScott raised is on par with a dmcowen thread further illustrates what a hack you are.

It's pretty easy top determine your position when you phrase your questions the way you do.

or do you just get off on pointing out problems with our government?

Not really, unless you live in a bubble and think that anyone who doesn't think like you must be an evil liberal.

It's a known issue that our intelligence agencies are getting out of hand and are too big to be regulated effectively. What's funny is when people who are clueless about how the system works blame the wrong people and then wonder why things never change.

I myself am not interested in the blame game like our OP hack who hides behind "both sides are bad". Instead I prefer to discuss solutions to these problems, again, something the OP never offers up.

His posts are that of a whiner and add nothing to the discussion which is why I asked him what his point was. Of course he gave an answer of that of a five year old, "NSA bad"! What's ba about them? The spying? Who they spy on? How they spy? Lack of oversight? Lack of transparency?

Perhaps if he added more thought to a post when he creates a thread that consists of more than one sentence he might get a good discussion going. Instead we get more garbage responses that say the same thing, "NSA bad!".

I'm sure Obama knew nothing of this. :D

That is okay if he did. In fact, we should not even speak of this again. I mean Bush did some stupid stuff so that makes it ok for Obama to go full tilt stupid.
