PS2 is selling for $179 now at places like Electronic Boutique and Babbages/Gamestop. If Sony makes those cuts official, MSFT will have to follow suit whether they planned it or not.

While Microsoft did not lower Xbox prices Monday, analysts and retailers say it's only a matter of time before it is forced to do so. Should Sony cut PS2 prices at its Tuesday press conference, Microsoft would likely be forced to match those immediately. If Sony stands pat, the price cuts will likely come later this summer or leading into the holiday sales period.

Sony is releasing an updated PS2 in June that will include the Network Adapter, for $199.

From gamespot:
Kaz Hirai then came back on stage to discuss hardware innovation and some of Sony's future hardware plans. First, he said that Sony will release the revised version of the PlayStation 2 (which contains progressive DVD playback support, reduced fan noise, an IR port for the remote control, and more) and that it will be bundled with the network adapter.The entire bundle will go on sale in June and will costs [sic] $200.

And another article from Dow Jones via Yahoo.

June isn't that far away, so it's not too suprising that they might be trying to unload their 'older' PS2s, which of course don't come with a network adapter. =)

In short: don't hold your breath too long waiting for the Xbox to drop in price...

Something to remember: Anytime you want to post a topic in hot deals and the first words that come to your mind and extend to your keyboard are NOT HOT quickly hit the back button because you are about to post in the wrong forum.

It was posted earlier that the Xbox might/would drop to $150 around E3. That's hot (if true).
So if someone has info that that is NOT going to happen certainly people here want to know
about it. Posting it in the original thread would be better. But one way or another I'd like to
see the updated info.

besides the fact that the starter of the thread said "NOT HOT" in the title is plain retarded, why post something that isn't hot in the Hot Deals forum? bumping it to the top also makes other aware of this stupid thread

Why do others need to be aware of a thread you deem "stupid"? That makes no sense. Not only did you click on this thread once (despite the descriptive title) and bump it, but you also visited a thread you say is "stupid" a SECOND time and bumped it again. How stupid can you be? Again, go away.
