NOT HOT! Warning about Staples coupon!

I ordered something with a coupon, $20 off $100.

Later I cancelled the order because I found better deals at BF.

I find that there is a charge from Staples for $21.

I call CSR and found out that they had to "charge" me for the coupon I used, including tax.



WTF is this? I'm never shopping at Staples again.

Do you mean you cancel part of the order and they charge you the coupon because you didn't meet the minium requirements? Otherwise, their system are messed up.

If you cancelled the order, they can't charge you anything. Tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine. Dispute it with your CC company.

No, I met the minimum requirement for coupon.

I got charged for the coupon ($20 off $100) because I cancelled the order.

The order total was like $120. This is BS.

I asked for a waive, but the CSR politely refused.

I'm never shopping there again. I was a good customer damn it!

just dispute it in writing with your CC as soon as you get your statement

Wow, I can't believe this really happened. They have to sell you something in order for you to be able to use the coupon in the first place right? I'm sure this can be cleared up, you just have to speak to someone with common sense at Staples. That might be tough.

No. I placed an order.

I refused the order the day it came.

I find out there is a charge of $21.65. I called and the CSR told me that they have to charge for the coupon I used, which was $20 off $100.

My order total was around $120. It was quite a large charge for such a small order.

There has to be something missing in your story.
They cannot possible charge you for NOT using the coupon.

Like someone said did you just cancel part of the order or the whoel order.

Hmmmm . . . interesting. I bought a CF card for my camera earlier today with that '12% off Customer Appreciation Days' coupon (found at chubbywallet) and then found out from my wife when I got home that somebody had already gotten me a CF card for Xmas. So now I have to take it back and act surprised Christmas morning. Hopefully they won't try the same thing with me.
