Not Hot: Slow Anandtech access

This isn't a hot deal, its more of a cold one since it's preventing me from getting hot deals in a timely fashion. Has anyone else noticed that in the last week access to the forums esp Hot Deals has been slow? I am on DSL at home and a network at work so it shouldn't be a problem. Just curious because even a simple page reload has to be performed 4-5 times and it takes almost a minute......

Forum Issues is the appropriate forum for this post. Sorry, but even with as much hardware as we have, there are usually 400 - 800 members logged in 24/7 and three to five times than many lurking.

We created our subscriber link help pay for the added hardware that provides the additional speed. We're doing the best we can.

Yeah, the Anandtech servers are truly too slow (bogged down).

Time to invest in more hardware,

Subscribe, then if they're still slow, you have a right to complain.

If you don't subscribe, just deal with it and quit whining.
 
Im sorry to gripe I love a hot deal as much as the next guy but what else do I get besides a web site that loads the way IT SHOULD ANYWAY! The site is painfully slow, this is not a slow server it has to be settings placed to hold it back. Even when creativelabs web site was bad it wasnt this bad. Maybe there is something that I havent experienced if so let me know and I might consider joining.
 
first of all slycat if you dont like the threads then dont read them, and instead of replying and bitching why dont you answer my question about how I go about subscribing...then I wouldnt have to start threads like this

If you hate it so much, you have the right to go to another site. Neither Anand nor anyone who is associated with this site "owes" you anything.

 
The subscription side of things are much, much faster, but the moderators are still rude jerks. Note to AT staff: If I'm doling out $ for your site, perhaps learn some manners when dealing with issues.

I didnt mean to start a flame war with this post nor do I feel like I am owed anything by AT. I just noticed that things seemed to be getting slower and I was wondering if anyone else had noticed it. If someone could please be so kind as to point out how to subscribe I will be content to let this thread die.

Didn't anyone notice that Gobadgrs was only a "member" with 62 posts? I can see jumping all over someone with a senior member status or greater, but how is he supposed to know about the subscription service if he's relatively new to AT?

Ha. Classic. For those who get tired of Anandtech slowness, head over to FW. I used to always start out here and go to FW if I had the time. Now it is the other way around. The same deals are posted on both sites and the moderators seem much more professional at FW. As someone said, why would you pay money here and have to put up with the AT moderators when FW is free?

This site has gone downhill for two years now and I cant see it turning around with the rude mods and "subscription fees."
I Just take this forum for what its worth and and move on to other sites that actually treat people like people. Analtech isnt the only deal site on the web THANK GOD!

If all your interested in is Hot Deals then yes, but there are many other forums here that FW cant even compare to.

Anandtech is not a "deal site." It is a tech site, which happens to have forums, which happens to contain a hot deals forum.

Well, the value of this board is the content. Content is created by users. And ever since the subscription model was introduced, and non-subscription servers became barely useable due to speed issues, users don't create as much content. It used to be that AT had the best deals. Now I see many deals that aren't posted here, or posted and then not have discussed as much as they used to be.

Subscribers base is not enough to maintain AT at the level it used to be. Non-subscribers are not happy. And as quality of discussion goes down, I am sure subscribers are going to start to wonder if the site is still worth paying for.
 
Gobadgers, Thank you for starting this thread.

You have received the answer probably many people were looking for - subscribing is very inexpensive when you consider the many benefits.

Look at ALL the forums instead of just hotdeals
ALL FORUMS offered here

Plus any subscription fees also go to support the many thorough and excellent reviews of computer hardware here.

For all you complainers - go to the other forums and deal with mods who become trolls and steal your money by selling you something and never shipping the goods.

Plus, this is a "community" - hang out a while and you will find some VERY conscientious and respectful people here. There are also many many professionals here who offer their time to answer your questions.
