NOT HOT: Outpost Cancelling BF2 Pre-Orders!

If you pre-ordered your copy of Battlefield 2 from Outpost.com a while back, when they had the sale (I think $39), go check your order status. I went to check it today and noticed that they had cancelled my order without my authorization. I spoke with them last month, and specifically told them that I did NOT want that order cancelled. I check today to see if it had been shipped out, and saw that it had been cancelled. I call back and they are now processing the order (at the original price), and will ship it out when they get another shipment in about 2-3 days. I was hoping to have gotten it by now.

So if you pre-ordered from Outpost.com...I would suggest that you go check your order status.

Has anyone received their copy of BF2 from them?

yup, i got an email today saying mine was cancelled. i'm pissed now that they would do this right before most stores get the game, and not earlier.

update: I just called them put and the CSR told me that after a certain number of days an order gets cancelled (I ordered this over a month ago). So, Outpost asks that u call back to tell them you're still interested in the order, and they'll put it through.

they cancelled a preorder once before me too. i think i tried to get mgs3. anyways, their preorder system is screwed up. if you place a preorder, outpost actually think it's a real order except "backordered" for those types of orders, if they stay open for too long, usually outpost will send an email that says the item is still not instock and if you don'[t respond to them they will automatically cancel the order. i completely missed this so my order got cancelled and that's about it...

just an fyi for future "preorders" at outpost.

I don't agree with what Outpost is doing by cancelling the orders, but they did send an email a bit over a month ago saying that the product was backordered, and that it was indefinate (not really..) so that if you didn't respond to the email they would cancel your order in "30 business days". I stumbled across the email a few days ago.. so I responded saying KEEP MY ORDER!, to which they replied, well its been cancelled because you didn't reply before. (I wonder how they define BUSINESS DAYS) Funny thing is that it wasn't cancelled before I responded to that old email. they must've been cancelling the orders just a day or 2 before it was to ship.

On the bright side, an email or 2 resolved the problem for me.. an Outpost CSR created another order for me at the same price and it will arrive at my door tommorow.

Another thing that makes this cancelling business shady is the fact that they mailed me the BF2 Pre-Order package consisting of a box and the headset. and charged me nearly $10 for that. If they didn't re-instate my order and get it out fast, I was going to demand that they pay for shipping so I could return the pre-order box.

but all seems to be working out well, and the CSRs were fast to take care of this.

I preordered 2 months ago for $39 and my order was shipped yesterday.

One thing to mention is that I got the email about a month warning of canceling if i did not contact them. Here is text:

We apologize but the item(s) you ordered are still out of stock
and we are unable to provide a definite ship date.

Please let us know if you would like to keep your order active
by calling us at 1-877-OUTPOST (International customers, please
call 1-860-927-2050) or e-mailing us at backorders@outpost.com.

If you elect to keep your order active and agree to a indefinite
ship date, you may cancel your order any time prior to shipment.
If we do not hear from you within 30 business days, your order
will be cancelled automatically.

We appreciate your business.

I called and kept it active and asked why they did the cancel email warning. The CSR said it was built into the system that if the order is out of stock for more than 30 days the email automatically goes out, regardless if it is a pre-order. Seems like they may need to add a line of code to their sytem to check for pre-order.
