You know what Shawn reminds me of, the same person who had www.ps2storeusa.com during the Ps2 launch. He had a warehouse full of Ps2's during launch when everyone was sold out (you get my drift too good to be true). It was another cult following. Oh Scott is telling the truth, he is sending them out tomorrow. Oh they are held up at Customs etc... When the customers got pissed, Scott decided to use irc as his customer service tool. Scotty lied and lied for a whole week on irc. Then he disappeared. A couple days later, Scott was arrested at the airport trying to leave the country with a suitcase full of money. This looks like a repeat story. Shawn is probably purchasing plane tickets as we speak to fly to some island in the Pacific. Luckily, for me I didn't send my money to him because he looked like a scam. But a bunch of Kids did and they are out $300. I'm willing to bet Shawn is doing the same thing. He lost money for a few months giving people unrealistic web plans. Then when people started saying "Wow, this guy gives you x space and bandwidth for $5 a year", people started jumping on the bandwagon and his 200 customers turned into 10k customers. Shawn is a crook. He is using stall tactics right now. I'll guarantee you that he won't ever be back up.

LOL!!!! Just confronted one of the ops with the 120gb 10,000rpm SCSI hard drives. She verified it to be true. Western Digital Platinum series. She stayed quiet after everyone else called her out on it.
 
I truly feel badly for the employees. If they were counting on him for their livlihood, to pay the bills etc, they are the real victims!! We customers will get our money back - and if not well it was just a few bux- and the big guys- the credit card companies will take the loss. But the employees are SOL!

And speaking of refunds.. I advise people to be proactive in getting the funds back.. either thru a paypal dispute or thru your credit card. I don't think CW will process refunds. They might. I don't know. But I'd take the quick & certain way - which for me was contacting American Express.

This is like an addictive soap opera.. any good writers here?? May Wil Smith and Spielberg can make a blockbuster out of this!! 😀

 
WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!

I just signed up with DixieSys, and the service is excellent. I went into their chatroom and the "CEO Gary" --- who goes by just "GARY" --- is in there and personally helps everyone. Of course, there's only about 8 people in there at a given time.

.... Everyone else is SATISFIED, and UP.

 
MCCALL: Yeah, we'll just disagree on this point. I would argue that owning one own's servers could be considered to be prohibitive to a small hosting business. Likewise, such a set-up would require adding "space as [you] go" since renting a lot of space from the start would be cost-prohibitive, especially compared to simply renting rack space which could be filled with a greater amount of server capacity immediately. A center in which cw rented rack space (and thus had space they could resell) would also allow them to develop dedicated and colocated servers. To my understanding, this works the same as a reseller account on a web server-- a person would colocate with cw instead of directly with company X because company X doesn't want to deal with small accounts and would rather let cw parcel out space 1-2u at a time.

I agree that the whole "in negotiations" thing doesn't ring true; it certainly fits with the hyperbolic speech (borrowing a Wolfgang-ism) Shawn seems prone to (whether due to fraudulent intentions or some major disconnect between brain and mouth).

So in the case of the data center, I think the statements could have been more 'arrogance' and less 'criminal' in nature, but I do understand your point. Certainly this matter should all be settled in the coming weeks and it will no doubt be amusing to see what happens.

Meanwhile, I find the whole hard drive issue hilarious. I totally want a Pt edition WD!

I ran one of the biggest chat sites on the web, ran into people spewing stuff all the time. The reality is there's little you can do about it, even if you have the resources to persue people. (Time, money, technology, more money...)

Shawn is self-destructing. He's got everyone (except one or two remaining loyal followers 😉) clawing at him demanding services, his name is smeared all over the Internet, he's got Lightship after him for past dues, he's got PayPal after him with chargebacks, you can imagine his "employees" are fed up with all the hell that's been breaking loose in chat for the past week.... oh yeah, and he's had physical threats made against him.

Shawn's only defense is continual lies -- about lawers, military datacenters, etc. etc. He cannot accept fault himself, but he's got the whole PLANET calling his bluff... not buying any more of his bullsh1t.

CEO-Shawn is about to crash as hard as his servers....

That's funny stuff. I know the girls over at paypal and eBay really well actually, and they've never heard of him. I know this because I had to tickle some people over there to have my $50 paypal to CW reversed after two weeks of no reply.
