Not Hot: Cendyne Rebates being rejected! Cendyne Buyers beware!

I've had 2 Cendyne rebates rejected within the past 2 weeks. One reject form claimed "The postmark date on your rebate submission was after the deadline for this rebate". That isn't possible because I purchased it on Sunday when the add came out, and filled out the forms. Then mailed it on Monday. The second rejection stated "INTERNAL 52X24X52 IDE CD-RW- The Serial Number was not included with your rebate submission". When I looked at my scanned image of my rebate form, low and behold the serial number of the drive is CLEARLY printed in my handwriting on the form. I've called the rebate center but I have not resolved these issues yet. CENDYNE BUYERS BEWARE!

Got the same kind of message on a Khypermedia rebate. I bought on 7/27 and mailed on 8/1 and they
say it was postmarked too late (the requirements said 7 days). I'd suggest fighting it out at the retailer
if you have proof. If there is a phone number, call it and demand that they return all of your documentation
for an upcoming class action lawsuit (although that may not work with a company that is filing bankruptcy).

I had the same problems with the 48x Cendyne burner I bought last feb. Went down to the Office Max I bought it at and talked to them about the rejection and showed them my documentation. They called on my behalf and the place said to resubmit it. Had to go down there one more time after it didn't show up after the two months. They called again and the check got mailed. Got it the next week. All that BS for a friggin $50 rebate. Hardly seems worth it in the end.
I agree with Leonc though. Take your documentation with you and tell them Cendyne won't honor your rebate. If Cendyne is really chapter 11 and not paying rebates, I'm sure OM will be able to do something for you. My feeling is if they advertise the rebate, OM owes you that money.

I'm glad cendyne is going down, their products SUCK!

They used to and do carry Lite-on products. only if u just recently come out of the jungle will you say the lite-on cdrw drives sucks 🙂.

but i just bought a cendyne form office max and send in the rebate...i am sure its not gonna come in now. this will be the first time i'll be rejected for a rebate..so i'll just go to office max and get the money which they should honor without any unforseen problems.

Heh, too bad cendynes doesn't actually make anything. So the products that "SUCK" are not cendyne's but rather the people cendyne buys them from (in your opinion). I know they sell quality CD-RW drives (lite-on) and quality DVD-RW drives (pioneer) and decent DVD+RW drives (NEC) and quality DVD-ROM drives (lite-on). So what is it exactly that sucks?

You are suppose to cut the UPC with the serial together and send it in, not just write it on the form. The serial number is on the back of the box.

I don't think it's out of business yet. I would know if it is since OM buy stuffs from them and we got nothing about that and we still getting their products. It's naturally when some thing goes wrong to blame a company. Companies are run by people and people make mistakes.
I have gotten all of my Cendyne's rebates so far. I recently got a modem for $10 on its way.

cendyne is out of business, but rebates are still a scam

Officemax policies notwithstanding, Cendyne is in bankruptcy and headed for liquidation. They are not providing warranty support, nor are they fulfilling rebates. If you have a Cendyne drive at this point, you're on your own and good luck! And if they owe you a rebate, write it off.

I did, I now only have the scanned in version. I'm going to see what office max will do for me.

They are not rejecting my rebates, I got a $50 Cendyne rebate check in the mail from rebateHQ.com 10 days ago, maybe they are only rejecting your rebates. 😉

Ok mod you can lock this sucker up now. 😛

such a sympathetic reply... not 🙁
is it because of
this?
i wonder, just asking...
losing out on a rebate is equivalent to someone stealing $__ (whatever the amount of the rebate) out of one's pocket -- money that WAS PROMISED, BUT NEVER PAID.
to the op i share my sympathies. it looks like everyone in this forum recieved their visontek rebates from new rochelle but me... after more than a year, still says "mailing rebate" 🙁
thank goodness bb paid me the award, but the time/sweat/whatever spent (getting to this point) I CAN NEVER GET BACK...
edit: and noting somebody SURE seems REALLY eager to lock this thread... *so tempted to quote a line from "a few good men" here*

Interesting...I've been waiting on my Cendyne rebate for the 4x DVD+R/RW I bought at Staples way back in May. Last update on the rebate was 6-2-03, and the status says:

Your rebate is valid and is in the final stages of processing and should be sent to you within the next 30 days.

I wonder if it would change from "processing rebate" to something else once it's finally mailed. It's $50, so I was kinda counting on it.

Yes, it will change to "Fulfilled" once it has been mailed.

#1. this belongs in the 'Rebate Tracking Thread' not in Hot deals, you know that as well as I do.
#2. he hasn't lose anything yet, all he has to do is resummit the rebate info. I have had the same thing happen to me with rebateHQ.com and fixed the problem with one phone call.

I checked the cendyne website and no mention of bankruptcy!

I don't know if thats a legal requirement to make public, but it sure seems like the sort of news that should be disclosed.

Or is this <cough> double secret probat.. <snip> bankruptcy </cough> different ?

As far as the product, I received mostly Lite-On drives and I can't complain about performance or quality.

I received a rebate check recently from Cendyne for something I bought months ago...

The check bounced! =(

B00000000000000000!
