Not exactly a gaming question but sort of...

Does anyone use anything other than iTunes as a background music player when gaming. iTunes seems to be too memory intensive for my likings and slows gameplay down sometimes. What else is there? Thanks.

Foobar2k is a small footprint player, good for playing in the background.

Foobar here too. Winamp isn't bad, but foobar is awesome imo. As bad as it is, itunes shouldn't be hogging your system resources to the point it has a noticable effect on games.

Foobar if I ever have music playing. It plays well with my keyboard too, and I like that. Also I can set Foobar to play from my X-Fi and Vent to play and record from my AV710...

I just checked VLC with a couple of MP3s; it seems to take less than 12mb of memory and uses less than 1% of CPU cycles.

After a game starts up, usually the disc can be removed so you can insert a music CD.

The only game in which I seem to have an interest in playing my own music is Test Drive Unlimited and it includes its own music player.

If I were to use an outside program it would be VLC.
