When installing a program in WIN98SE I get a Not enough disk space error.

There is plenty of disk space availible.

This program is called NOAH 3.1 and the problem occurs when installing a module (add on software)

I was wondering if anyone had seen this type of error (not just in noah but in general)

I'm probably pretty far off but do you have your drive partitioned? I think part of the C: is used for virtual memory so even if you've got space on another partition it will still give you the error because the C: doesn't have enough free space.

as far as I know there is only one partition.

I am working with an IT guy about 2K miles away and I am trying to help him with this.

What he discribed to me was a clean install with win98SE and no other stuff but our software.

WWe seem to think it could be a partition error where the FAT may be corrupted.

Rember that the swap file (virtual memory) can take up considerable space that may not be detected by regular disk properties - the size may also vary if you have left it as a dynamic swap file. I always set my "virtual memory" to a fixed size of 192-256MB for better perfomance and a fixed swap file is always taken account of in drive properties' "free space" measure.
. And you may also have the "Recycle Bin" set too large (10% of disk space on each partition is normally reserved by default) which doesn't show up in drive properties either. You can reduce the R-B size by right click > Properties. I usually set mine to only 1% on a modern large drive.
. Not to mention that a lot of programs use much more temporary space when installing than the actual installed usage figure. Often as much as double. Need to take that into account.
