Not drinking 3 or 4 days a week for liver health

A doctor claimed recently that if you leave the former drinkers who damaged themselves out of the non drinker category and just look at the never have drinkers that non drinkers live longer than moderate drinkers.

I dont drink coffee either. You can become addicted to a lot of different things. Beer is full of sugar also. It is as bad as drinking soda. I drink a lot of diet soda, but I should try to cut back. When it comes to alcohol, it is not really good for you. The question is can you stop drinking for a month or a week? Also if you drink alcoholic beverages at home and you have children, what are you teaching your Children?

Same thing goes for tobacco products.

I imagine a doctor could say that some alcoholic beverages are worse or better compared to the content and the strength per ounce of alcohol and the type of alcohol. I have never seen a study that compares different types of alcoholic drinks. I am to the point that I dont even want to drink cough medicine if it has alcoholic content.

In france older children drink wine with dinner. By the time they get to college they arent running around stupid doing jello shots as their taste is refined and they understand how to use alcohol.
 
I wonder if things like Coffee are bad for your liver? I think I remember something like acidic content and the oils from the coffee bean may also be bad for you. I might be sensitive or something, because I dont much care for bottled water either. It is like I can taste the plastic.

I thought that beer is full of carbs, but doesn't really have sugar. It doesn't even taste sweet...

Anyway pure alcohol is not a good thing for the body, there is no doubt about that. But if you drink in moderation the effects are likely minimal. I think the benefits of drinking alcoholic drinks (helps promote social interaction, some people enjoy the taste, find it relaxing, etc) far outweigh the potential harm, assuming responsible drinking.

My guess is that parents who regularly have a drink with dinner gives a better message to kids than those who never drink. Kids will more likely see alcoholic drinks as something that is social/normal life in nature and less likely to binge drink down the road.

Never heard of the Woo school of health, though its really just cell senescence. Every part of your body probably has the capability of living to 120 or so if you are genetically normal. But life ain't easy. Surgery, diet, overwork, lack of exercise, accidents, injury, certain drugs etc. all probably contribute to shortening health/life. As does probably getting sick often. You get worn down. Thats all there is to it.
 
You've obviously never drank a lot. If you drink a lot you will smell like it the next day. It comes out your pores and breath.

Does not really matter, it's in your blood and the smell comes out of your pores. At least that's how I always understood it. I just rather not take a chance.

I guess that answers my next question. Red Squirrel's context of "drinking" here means drinking to excess then. I've certainly never smelled like booze the next day without having to be plastered to do so, nor have I encountered anyone else who smells like booze from drinking just a glass or three the night before (boots and yard-o-beers notwithstanding).
