If somebody wants to live in a city devoid of McDonald's and circumcised penii, let them. I would rather live in a fiscally responsible, conservative city like Indianapolis, so I do. Again, don't make me pay for your policies, and you don't have to pay for ours.

When their city goes bankrupt, they'll have to get bailed out by the state. If you haven't noticed, the state is not in a very good position to do that, and will have to get bailed out by the Feds (using the rest of ours' money).

If they want to enact policies that drive out productive businesses and citizens and attract worthless dirty hippies, they'll suffer financially. This is a fact.

Not necessarily. What you elude to (residential real estate prices) could just as easily be defined by the glut of "suburban" real estate available versus the paucity of San Francisco real estate available.

I don't see how circumcision laws and happy meal bans are going to put San Francisco at risk for bankruptcy. It's massive employee pay and benefits are a much bigger threat, but SF has a healthy tax base.

I think think these SF policies are a waste of time but some of these concerns you guys are having are a bit ridiculous. Religious freedom is a better argument.

I thought neocons were all about local governments being able to govern locally? Or is that only when it involves crosses and the 10 commandments?

I do live in SF and I think this new ban and the McDonalds toy ban is part of the cycle of stupid that clouds this city. We have a 500 million dollar budget deficit but stupid shit like this seems to be the top of the priority of the board of stupidvisors in SF.

Anyways where were you when the DailyShow completely mocked one of our supervisors for their idiotic stance on the Mc D's toy ban? I hope you wrote them a stern letter explaining your outrage at the highlighting of that policy since you now feel its your job to tell other people how or what they should believe or think.

The link doesn't work so I googled it and if you read the stories you find that... Umm... SF isn't trying to ban circumcision. There is ONE nutjob trying to get enough signatures to put the issue up for a vote in the next election. In two months he has only managed to collect about 3500 sigs... he still has another 3500+/- to go... in a city with millions of people. If you can't get 7100+ people in a city the size of SF to sign a petition to get something on the ballot in two months...

But yeah... this isn't anything pending before the city council.
