I was just checking out pricewatch...scanning through the list of crappy retailers with suspiciously low prices...for XP 1800+ processors when I noticed that Googlegear.com (an excellent retailer btw) is selling a Retail 1800+ for $60 shipped!

I think this is a steal since I ordered my friend one from them just 2 weeks ago for $72, and I just ordered one for myself already! :)

not bad...9-10 bucks more than the 1700+ but you also get a heatink and longer warranty. plus i've heard that the retail ones overclock better...true?

i ordered a 1800+ retail a week ago when the price was $67.50 or something like that. even though the website said the part number is AXDA( T-bred), the chip i recieved was only AX( palamo core). I didn't want to hassle with them so i didn't bother to send it back and ask for a t-bred. (don't want to overclock so it wasn't a huge issue) so anyways...buyer beware guys. it was the first time i used googlegear and probably my last. i do hope my case was a mistake on their part and u guys get a t-bred chip.

yes, who has this and has overclocked it.

also, if you have OC'ed...what temps?

I've got one with 8RDA+. OEM though, week 0250 Thoroughbred B.

2102 MHz, SLK800 with SVC 32.5cfm 80mm fan. 1.83V at 190*11. Full load reaches about 52C.
Great processor for the price...paid $75 after tax for an OEM one though :(

rx8, It is not Googlegear fault, it is AMD mistake. Latest Maximumpc Magazine issue mentions this.

Mine's running at 2208 MHz (138x16, still stuck with SDRAM on a K7S5A) at 1.95 V; 51C at full load, rock solid. Thanks, anandtech!

Tbred's are NOT multiplier locked. You need a motherboard that supports multiplier switching, or you can manually solder a multiplier switcher onto your motherboard.

I chipped my 1.2ghz tbird by puttin a volcano 9 on it and i dont know if it will run till i get the ram this week, but if it doesnt come in im grabbing one.
I'm currently running a 650 athlon so either chip will seem like a huge upgrade ^.^

Yup mine's a Tbred B also.

Highest I've tried going on the FSB is 11.5 x 151 (1733mhz / XP2100+) and it ran very well (Prime95 for a day, 3Dmark2001, regular usage) @ 1.60v.

I haven't tried to up the multiplier yet but I just realized that since I'm on SDRAM (on my MSI K7T Turbo2), raising my FSB will probably yield very minimal results correct? I don't want to up the Vcore much and risk shortening the life of this cpu....
