Found this spider (alive) in a case of green leaf lettuce that came from California, trying to identify it before I kill it with fire

It's the yellow lettuce death spider, there's no need to kill it with fire. Just looking at it is fatal, so you're doomed anyway.
 
Looks like an Orb Weaver. Very cool. Edit: Marbled?

To not be controlled by its orb mind control, you must plant a garden no less that 6ft sq and give it a home. Ironically by doing so you have fallen into to its mind control web.

Yep, orb weaver. He's harmless to you, release and let him chow down on flies and mosquitoes.
 
Not an orb weaver, obviously a crab spider as stated.

While most people may be horrified to find insects in/on their produce, I see it as a good sign. Living things = good.
