Yet again my other car which mom drives got hit and scratched up.

A school bus overtook the lane it was on and scraped the passenger side.

Pics below 2005 Nissan Altima.

I already got the estimate 3000$ and filed the claim with insurance.

I hope our insurance cost doesnt go up, when i'm already close to turning 25 so it's supposed to get reduced.

Did the bus stop? Did they know it was their fault? As long as you have their info, it's THEIR insurance that pays...not yours.

Call the bus company! Make them pay for it!

yes bus stopped, police came and got a report and also the bus company sent someone onsite to take pictures.

My insurance asked me if i wanted to go through the bus company or them. I said my insurance because going through the bus company could take weeks or maybe months.

Now if your rates go up you have no one to blame but yourself.

Should have made the person at fault (The bus I assume) pay for their mistake.

yeah but that can take weeks or months..... so my insurance, said if i go through them they go after them for the money back.

Edit: only difference i have would have to pay deductible and then when the bus company pays i get the deductible back.

I was sideswiped by a bus a few years ago. Damage was about $100 (side view mirror). I wrote them a letter and not long after they told me to get it appraised. I did, and they sent a check for damages. Noting the bus driver's expletives during the encounter (it was his fault) I think helped to expedite the process.

Still, don't come here and complain when your rates go up. Yes, it will take MAYBE an extra week or two, but it sure looks drivable to me. You should have went with their insurance...what the heck is going to delay the process? They have pictures...they will admit fault...

You know what pisses me off? A damaged/smashed car never sounds or performs the same. My mom was almost t-boned 4 years ago in a Chevy Blazer with myself and my best friend inside. She saw the car coming out of her eye before we were completely t-boned, so she swerved to the left to avoid a direct hit. He ended up taking out most of the front-end passenger side and both passenger doors. An old man coming from the right side never stopped at the red light and was speeding, to boot. He was going about 50MPH in a 35 zone so he had several fines to pay.

Anyways, the doors never sounded the same. They sounded hollow and very 'plastic-like'. The engine never sounded right, either.

All I can say is that I'm very thankful I'm here today. I really believe an angel was on our shoulders that day. I was in the front passenger side and the door was dented in pretty far, starting to pinch my legs. 🙁

I've noticed lately those buses here on LI have been more aggressive coming out of the shoulder into the right lane. Maybe they have been given orders to move the buses through their routes quicker.

BTW, turning 25 doesn't reduce your insurance that much. I think it helped me with $45 every 6 months. :|

Meh, you know buses always have the right of way and are especially aggressive.

Was the break on that altima working?

stupid buses. these drivers think that they can do many things, but no, they can't.

my mom once got rear-ended by a city bus in florida.

regardless, i still want my buses to get me places on time. 😛

umm turning 25 knocked about 40% off 3 of my friends rates. and will do the same for mine when i turn 25.

I don't think you can fault bus/truck drivers in many instances. They have a considerably heavier load so their start/stop times will be much longer and on the same token, they can't afford to wait for people to give them courtesy.

You try driving a slow-vehicle and attempt to merge into "flow of traffic" speeds. 😉

full coverage or liability only ? I had liability only. Geico was pretty cheap to begin with.

I'm more pissed about people talking about it all the time and how I wished I would turn 25 quicker. Then when the day came, the savings was not worth waiting for.

He was not switching lanes.

There was traffic so all lanes where back up, the bus seem to have somet type of obstruction on his lane and tried to go around it but the nose when over to the other lane and hit our car.
