Navy SEAL accidentally shoots self in head

SAN DIEGO -- A 22-year-old Navy SEAL was on life support Friday after he accidentally shot himself in the head while showing off a pistol to a woman he met at a bar, police said.
San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali told U-T San Diego officers were called to a home in Pacific Beach about 2 a.m. Thursday on a report that a man had shot himself in the head while playing with a gun.
Cali says the man was showing guns to a woman he'd met earlier at a bar and put a pistol he believed was unloaded to his head. Cali says he then pulled the trigger.
A Navy spokesman confirmed to U-T San Diego that the sailor had completed SEAL training last week and was assigned to a West Coast-based team.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the shooting, a Navy spokesman told the San Diego newspaper.
Commodore Collin P. Green, commander of Naval Special Warfare Group One, released a statement saying, “On behalf of the entire Naval Special Warfare community, we are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and extend both our hearts and prayers to our teammate’s family during this very difficult time.”

Anyone who does this, regardless of whether they believe the gun is loaded, regardless of whether THEY JUST CHECKED IT, is a complete idiot. I have no idea how this guy got through SEAL training.

Too many Steven Seagull movies and not enough real missions for that bloke

It's definitely idiotic, but have you ever sat down next to a pretty girl and all of a sudden your powerful mind goes blank and all you can think of are dick jokes.

Do you sit there like an idiot or do you start telling dick jokes?

What do you do hotshot, what do you do?

women should be rebranded as terrorists, they do far more damage to our servicemen than any insurgent ever will.

I almost ran some bitches off the road to impress a girl in the car... I like to think it was subconscious.

Don't mix guns and alcohol
Treat all guns as if they are loaded
Keep your finger off the trigger until shooting
......?
Do not point at head. 😀

What a dumbass. There are better ways to impress a girl.

4 rules.
Rule #1
Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
Unloaded guns cause the more accidents than loaded ones. Always treat all guns as if they are loaded.
Rule # 2
Never let the muzzle of a gun point at anything you do not want to destroy or kill.
This rule is especially important for those supervising novice shooters. When a child holds a rifle for example, if he hears a noise to the side, and turns his head, the weapon tends to follow. Similarly, if you make a great shot, and look back to brag to your friends, don't let the weapon follow your gaze.
Rule # 3
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger.

At all times you must keep your trigger finger straight, and off the trigger. Only once you have aimed and have your target in the sights should you permit your finger to gently rest on the trigger. This prevents accidental discharges should you stumble, trip, or be subjected to some unexpected event.
Rule # 4
Be absolutely sure of your target, and what is behind it
