Nostalgia!

If you could bring back the nostalgia of a game by bringing it back to its heyday what would it be? For instance I remember playing Fable when regular Xbox was in, what good times. I remember playing Diablo 2 for hours when I was in high school, very big online game that was a blast.

What game would you bring back if you could? (to its former glory like it was new)

I'd probably have to say:

Dark Sun - Shattered Lands (linked it because most might not know what that is)
Sim City
Sim Tower
Sim Ant
Civilization (the original)
Sim City 2000 (even bought the 500 page book with this one)

Plenty of NES, SNES, and Genesis games like the Dragon Warrior series, Final Fantasy series, Sonic... man, so many games that I can think of that I grew up with that were so great.

Probably the most recent game would have to be World of Warcraft when it was first released and everything was so new and unexplored. I definitely haven't had that feeling in an MMO since November 2004.

I remember playing this on NES (I think) and I thought it was incredibly cool because you could allocate points into your stats, but I remember completely sucking at the game. 🙂

Sonic the Hedgehog. Man the original trilogy of games on the Genesis were fantastic. Then Sega began toying with the formula and it all fell apart from there. They managed to almost get it back to its heyday with Generations but then they just had to poop out Sonic Boom. 🙄

Master of Magic

Star Control II

For the PC:

DOOM II / Quake (Original)
Command & Conquer RA1
SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battles
Diablo II LoD
Natural Selection (possibly the best total conversion MP mod I've ever played)

A few others...

And for the Consoles, there's way too many, but here's a few select:

Super Mario Bros. 2, 3 / Blaster Master (NES)
Sonic 2, 3 & Knuckles / Streets of Rage 2 / MK1 / General Chaos (Genesis)
SMW / Star Fox / Super Metroid / Mega Man X / DKC1 / Killer Instinct / NHL '94 (SNES)
Twisted Metal 2, 3 / MGS1 / Vigilante 8 / Grand Turismo / RE2, 3 (PSX)
Perfect Dark / GoldenEye 007 / Turok 1, 2 / Body Harvest (N64)

And many, many more. But these mentioned above are filled with nostalgia for me, or rather nostalgia is filled with them... either way works.

Quake 3
Team Fortress Classic
Day of Defeat
Counter-Strike 1.6
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Battlefield 2
Call of Duty: United Offensive
Unreal Tournament (1999)
Soldier of Fortune
MDK

God, Im crying right now writing this list 🙁 "Tears"

So many games I can list. 2 Stand out the most.

1. Unreal Tournament. This was the pinnacle of online FPS for me. Great action, good community..modding. Sort of brought match play to the forefront. I am sorry but all the sequels were terrible in my opinion. Original UT that was where it was at. So many hours spent......

2. Everquest. On one hand I would never ever bring it back. I am beyond sick of the MMO genre. But getting into this game for the first time was an experience I could never duplicate but tried with many games. The world of MMO in a fantasy setting, exploring stuff for the first time...met so many cool people. After EQ, came DOAC, then SWG. Both also great experiences but different and more pvp centric. Then we all know what happened with WOW. The EQ experience though to me screams nostalgia.

First Diablo was great, but I don't know if I care to bring it back.

Halo 2 was the greatness of online console gaming.

Maybe DKC for SNES... it was such a big deal back in the day with the graphics and progress in tech. NBA Jam was also a big deal, along with Mortal Kombat at the arcades.

Quake 2 was also a good time but I could do without it I suppose. Probably one of the suggestions above.

I don't know... Nothing really stands out in my mind. Between

-Sonic the hedgehog
-Mighty Bombjack
-NBA Jam on Genesis
-Coolboarders on PS1
-Armored Core
-"Your Soundcard works perfectly"
"Your Soundcard works perfectly"
"Your Soundcard works perfectly"
"Zug Zug"
-Chrono Trigger
-Final Fantasy 2
-Final Fantasy 7
-Baldur's Gate
-Sim City on windows 95
Mortal Combat

I couldn't go back and play most of these. I would just be overwhelmed with strange emotion. The memories are great though.
