If so, you were probably a child of the 70's and 80's like me and should remember:

- when oil came in CANS
- when you had to choose regular or unleaded at the gas station
- having to get up, walk to the tv, and turn the rotary dial to change channels
- SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS!
- cereal box toys
- Apple, Commodore, Franklin, DEC.......
- hangin at the arcade (it was THE cool hangout) and WAITING IN LINE to play coin-op games.
- SLIME (that stuff that came in the green garbage can - you CANNOT forget that scent!!!!!)

.....add your own memories!!!!!

Heh that was pretty cool... I do remember all of that stuff. And your mention of slime immediately brought to mind that "slime" smell.

Bahaha remember garbage pail kids? My elementary school went so far as to ban them. And I remember how rebellious I felt buying and listening to Two Live Crew's "Banned In The USA".

Ah, to be a child of the 80s.

hey l2c:

Glad to help you bring back some childhood memories! I was just poking around the web and found this site:

Yesterdayland

And it started all these flashback memories - thought I would "share the moment" 🙂

Sometimes I earn to go back to the good 'ol days............my dad grillin burgers over charcoal on a hot summer evening while blasting Queen on the 8-track - all the while my neighborhood friends and I would be riding our big wheels or tossing those dangerous and now forbidden JARTS!

😉

sigh memories....nowadays no one even knows bugs bunny, gumby, smurfs, transformers, gi joe......just pokemon etc etc...

🙁

Ah I remember when Garbage Pail Kids were all the rage. I was one of the few who resisted the evil.

You remember - BANANA SEAT - and that WAY COOL 5-speed stick shift on the center frame bar!!!

Photos at this eBay auction

OMG! The Eighties! Simon, NES, Pac-Man Fever, He-Man, GOOD Saturday morning cartoons, more NES, cereals with great taste and NO nutritional value, Shrinky-Dinks, Dungeons and Dragons, Chef Boyardee ONLY in cans, Nintendo Game And Watch, vector Star Wars in the arcades...

The memories...🙂

Now back when "I" was a kid, we had these little wafers that looked like alkaseltzer and came in little foil packets like alkaseltzer, and they fizzed all up like alkaseltzer, but MAN they weren't ALKASELTZER!!

You put them in water and it made the water taste fruit or cola etc.

They were called FIZZIES.

And we liked it like that, and we were GLAD to have them!! 😉

Any of you young whipper snappers ever hear of THOSE?

w00T!

I just discovered that amazon has LAND OF THE LOST and SIGMUND AND THE SEAMONSTERS on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....must resist..........oh heck, I'll probably have to buy them now!

You can still get pop rocks. hehe... I had some for the first time since I was a kid (~12 years) a few weeks ago. Fun stuff.

What about those pring steel snap wrist bands? Snap them on your wrist, and they coil by themselves. That fad lasted 17 days 🙂

What about Neco-wafers? Or portable TAPE players? I had headphones that fit in a cool carying case that looked like a regular tape 🙂

And howabout "The Simpson's ing the Blues"?

<< What about Neco-wafers? >>

My wife gave me a big metal tin of them from Christmas! I've eaten about two rolls (little 2" rolls) per week since then.

What about

Bank Americard (now Visa)
Master Charge (now MasterCard)

Super SUGAR Crisp (now Super GOLDEN Crisp)
SUGAR Frosted Flakes (now Frosted Flakes)
SUGAR Smacks (now Smacks)

ESSO (now Exxon)

Vending Machines with the big Chrome Knobs that you had to pull out to get your selection.

Soda machines with BUILT IN bottle openers and the little place where the caps fell in.

Pop top chains.

TV's that took two minutes to come on and then went down to a smaller and smaller dot when you turned them off.

Klackers (two hard plastic balls on a string... taken off the market because they sometimes shattered)

ZOT's (hard candy with fizzy stuff in the middle)

Super Elastic Bubble Plastic!

Metal Roller Skates that strapped to your tennis shoes (who's got my key?)

What were those sticks that were shaped like a Slim Jim and were advertised as a breakfast replacement (as used by astronaughts!)

ESSO Extra... 101 Octane Gas!

Cigarette Commercials on TV.... Cigar commercials too! (I always liked the White Owl and Dutch Masters one's myself)

Star Trek.... NOT in reruns!

Laugh In

Friday Night TV Line UP!
Brady Bunch
Partridge Family
Here Come the Brides
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
The Odd Couple
Barefoot In The Park
