OK, so the thing that really started this thread is the idea that somewhere out there, is a NIB FireFox by Shinsei!!

OK..........with what I just typed about half of you just had a lightbulb burst in your brain as you saw a vision of..............the FIREFOX! The other half of you are going.........."What in the WWF is a FireFox??" (OK, just gotta laugh a sec here.......he he) OK, I'm back.

The FireFox (like the Starbird/S-A-S/Whirlybird, etc.) are all toys that us early GenXers grew up on.

Remember the Starbird?? (The acceleration sound in climbing?? The 2 interceptors on the wing tips?? The lasers on the front?? The whole friggin' thing comes apart & it makes you happy?? WTH??)

Well, you can still find plenty of Starbirds on ebay. Some are in great shape, a lot are missing the interceptors on the wings. Some are broke, some make noise, some have the original box, etc. etc.........

BUT.................................................

Ever seen a FireFox on ebay?? Well, I personally haven't, but I'm not searching 24/7. I just happen to check every so often........(maybe once a year?)..........and have yet to see one. I see other Shinsei toys, but not the FireFox.

Ahhhhhh the memories............

P.S. I also just remembered another little toy I had that was cool to me at the time, but sure was a heck of a lot of work..........

OK, it was a couple cars and an oval track. What you did was plug this battery pack into a car and on the top of this battery pack was a button. You had to hold this button down for about 5 minute to get the cars to go for about 2 minutes. (I recall I rigged a way to use tape to hold the button down 'cuz after 5 minutes your finger would look like the tip of a lit cigarette...........LOL!!) Anyway, after the car was charged, you just put it on the track & it went around the oval over & over again. Exciting, eh?? LOL!!!

Anyway, just wanted ta' throw that one out too as one of those "RARE" toys. We all know about the Tyco slot car stuff & the double-spinning-wheel crank car thing with the loop in it, but this one above was somthing I barely remembered in the annals of my mind........(maybe that should read........anal??) LMAO!!!!!!!!!!😉

This thread rocks

I miss the 80's🙁....but not the 80's hair😛

EDIT What was the race track called that you could use the controller to make the cars change lanes? I cant remember🙁

Doh!! I can't remember! But ya, I think most (if not all?) of that stuff came from Tyco.

I remember for my FireFox (after my mom bought like 2 sets of battteries to the tune of like HALF the price of the friggin' FireFox itself) I got this battery charger that said it could charge even Alkaline batteries............(remember that back then we're talking NiCd at best)..........well, I'd charge those puppies like all night & they'd still barely get the sucker rollin'!!

Too bad they didn't have NiMH batts back then!! 🙁

😀

The racetrack was TCR (Total Control Racing). I had one and it was great.

Wrist Racers was pretty cool too.

Man... I've not thought of that up in over 20 years... damn fun toy...

in the 80's there was a he-man toy where you could trap one of your figures with this giant claw thing up against this dungeon wall. Then you could pour this slime goop that came with it into the top of the dungeon thing and then the guy would just get totally wrecked with poisonous slime!

awesome.

Holy crap!

I had a Starbird and had completely forgotten about it until I read this thread.

Wow, that broght back memories.

I believe that was the toy that made my dad stop buying batteries.

SST racers by kenner anyone???

SST racers were almost as cool as the Evil Kneivel bike. The best thing about them was the cool 'anodized' colors. Plus, you could really do some damage to your younger sisters' 'dollhouse setup'

Ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar.........😉

Back to the subject of the Evil bike thing.........

It was almost a double-edged sword when you started gettin' him crankin' too fast 'cuz you had to time stoppin' the handle perfectly or he'd take off before you got to full speed.

Remember hearin' that sucker crank up to speed??? (jee jee jeee jeee jeeeeee jeeeeeeee..........) then POW that bike takes off like a bat outta' hell!!!

-------------------------------------

Ooooh......oooh.........that also makes me think about those water-pumpable water rockets with the clear red nose so you could see the water level. You were supposed to pump 'em like 10 times or so, then after the first run, you IMMEDIATELY go for approximately 100 pumps & you don't even get to hit the release before that sucker would take off & THUNK on the hood of your neighbor's car?? ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

Big TRAX i think was the toy you can program to drive in patterns, had a trailer attachment.

Micronauts were fun, full sized GI-JOE's.

I had a starbird and a firefox
I also had a full set of Star Wars and GI Joes...
wish I had kept that stuff ... I hear Star Wars gen 1 toys are already huge collector items

ah, the memories, there is a toy shop near my house that has alot of these toys people are mentioning, im gonna look there asap for the firefox, will take a camera with me if they have one

Anybody know how to search better than I???

If I do a search on Google for "Shinsei Firefox" the first page shows an auction on Canada's ebay, but the auction is long-since gone away.

🙁

I know there's a pic of one out there somewhere!!!!

FFFFFFIIIIIiiiiiirrreeeeefffooooooxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

P.S. Scorpmatt........thanks! 😉

LMFAO, OMG yes, I remember sitting in my grandmothers house playing with the wind up Evil Kneivel bike. jee jee jee jeeeee jjeeeeeeeeee.........hahahahahahahaaha

OK, sorry gang......but some of these are poppin' into my head at random.........

This one wasn't necessarily as big a deal or as early......(I believe this was like 'mid' 80's so may not go back as far as some of this stuff)........

But anybody remember the "Original" Big Loader Construction Set?

I think I was like somewhere "pre-teen" at the time, but an uncle of mine got one as a gag-gift.......(though he was really a "big kid" at heart so I'm sure he took it more seriously)........but when I saw that car take those little black plastic balls all around the track scooping, dumping, etc. etc.........I just HAD to have one.

Approximately 2 months later.........my birthday came & I got one of my own!! I've seen later revisions, but I'll never forget the "original"...........'twas a blast!!! 😉

As I was reading through this again, I thought of that rocket launcher toy that used water as a propulsion. I remember you had to pump it up like 10 or 20 times. I loved that thing too when I was little🙂
