OSLO (Reuters) - Norwegians including artists and politicians made a rare foray into U.S. politics Tuesday with an advertisement in a U.S. newspaper saying that President Bush (news - web sites)'s war on terror was backfiring.

The Norwegian group "www.tellhim.no" said it used about $50,000 in donations from 4,000 people to fund the advertisement in the Washington Post to tell Bush that 80 percent of people in NATO (news - web sites)-member Norway opposed the U.S.-led war in Iraq (news - web sites).

"Mr. President, your country can once again be a leading example of democracy and freedom, inspiring a world where terrorism can no longer breed," it said. "Your present policy only fosters resistance, more than ever, everywhere."

I think this is interesting and might be a little disturbing. I think if an American group did the same thing to the Norwegians, then they would go crazy...I mean people already were insulted when Bush talked to Turkey about the EU...this is even more extreme than that, but obviously different in the groups doing this.

But this is the single most important election in the world...

Um, like they are some utopian society? LMAO!!!

Nice, they might have simply endorsed Kerry like the french and other terrorists.

I can see his 'Conservative Base' drawing tighter around him on this.

Ain't no dad blame 'Fereners' gonna tell US what to do !

Scandnavia pwns you GWB. LOL. I love it. EVERYONE hates Bush except those who drank the coolaid and refuse to admit they tasted something bad. When are you repugs going to wake up and see that you are brainwashed zombies that think anything GWB says is good and golden.

LoL!

the american people don't take kindly to being told who to vote for by foreign countries, and this ad will most likely backfire.

My little niece is 7 years old, that age where her cognitive development doesn't make finer distinctions. Everything is good or bad, she loves something or hates something, always opposite extremes. It reminds me a lot of Infohawk... he's extreme and sees the world in extremes. Liberal-Conservative, Democrat-Republican, Good-Evil, etc...

I got 10 bucks that he needs medication if Bush wins.

I'm saying that many people were going crazy when Bush was talking with Turkey about the EU. These same people should be going crazy over a Norwegian political group trying to influence the US presidential election.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I'm simply stating that many people all over the world should equally see this as unwanted or ridiculous.

I value other people's opinions, but I think this is a little troubling. If the US did the same to Norway then they would all be going crazy. To have a foreign body attempt to directly influence your election is probably troubling for many people.
